Tosec 0.27 (amiga Games)

Have found a complete AMIGA games TOSEC set for bittorrent.
It is 4.8GB big. But i am a bit sceptic about the file size about this 0.27 TOSEC set. I think it must be bigger or am i wrong ???
Or is 4.8GB the valid size for the whole set?

also many online tosec/goodset resources *cough*planetemu*cough* leave out the [b]'s, [o]'s, [a]'s and all the other junk

Hmm, I'll check it right now

Looks like the game sets are just under 14GB total...

The games 0.27 is 10Gb, this does not include ISO's and compilations!

That would make sense since I'm including the ISO's and such

4.8 gig sounds ok to me..

I found that if you rar the Amiga sets WITHOUT compressing each file with winzip first then you get a massive difference in compression. I did this with all my Amiga sets a while back when I archived them off to cd and Im going to do it again soon.

There was a discussion about this on irc last night, and it was concluded that it's more than feasible for the 0.27 games adf to be 4.8gb, as Big-Byte says rar'ing whole unzipped sets can make a big difference, and if it's a 7zip, the difference will be bigger still

Well Ive just finished rar'ing up Amiga 0.27 #-A and here are the results...

All files individually zipped.. 672 meg (704,788,683 bytes)
All files unzipped and then rar'd 317 meg (333,118,775 bytes)

Pretty good difference

@plasmatron... dont bother - just get files from me

I agree. Also, I remember downloading the Good Amstrad set from a very good buddy of mine. Good CPC is 500+ mb zipped. But rared, the set came in at 300 mb.

As for the complete Amiga TOSEC set, I wonder, does this include CAPS and WHD Load games?

Ok one more question, james..
What about the size of the WHD load games? And how many games have been WHD'd?

That I can't answer as I don't think I have any of these

I'm sure somebody here has them all or nearly all of them and can answer this one for you

766 WHDLoad games have been renamed so far, and they take up 586MB on my HD (each game zipped).

The WHDLoad games are NOT tosec, they were renamed by myself and Antiriad a while ago, and as such the dat is now out of date!

Also the dat does noy cover all the games due to limitations that most rom-managers have!

They don't support sub-folders properly, and seeing as 75% of WHD games use sub-folders, until the managers get updated, the dat ill remain at 0.1!

But rest-assured the 0.2 ver of the dat will hopefully be changed to the proper tosec naming guidelines and included
