Wings of Fury "night design"

I suppose this is a hack, but who knows.

There's some cracks of WoF that have a kind of "night design", everything is a lot darker and the levels are all happening with pitch-black background.

Did some hackers just mess with the sprite code or something?

[edit] Hey there's even more interesting stuff here!
The version with blue background doesn't display the game credits when you see your airplane on the carrier, the "night" version with black background does!
The "night" version doesn't show the 'A time of Fury' intro either, but skips it!
So the one with black background is maybe some preview/beta snatched by some sceners before official release? (Galahad? :hoo)

I recall a black background one. Was labelled as wings 2. Lost it though.

Seemed pretty much like a hack.

Yes, it's called Wings of Fury II and it's a hack.

Well my version I got from a CD does NOT have a modified intro picture black background anyway, therefore I asked.
