Well considering how hard it is to find accelerators to make an A1000 usable I guess its better then tossing it in the trash. For some reason I never really cared for that model amiga (a tie with the a600).

Didn,t you get Amiga Bay Plates ?

......Now your using your Amiga one Sevrin did you just put it in a new case with front loaded USB or as above get hold of the Amiga marked Blanking plate from Eyetech ?.....surely the old 1000 desk top case lacks the style of towers..particulary with a monitor on top....the lack of even cooling..........But when you think retro practicle isn,t your first consideration is it ?

It's in a new case, with front USB ports (that don't work with linux atm, but the back ones do), made my own 'AMIGA One' blanking plate (the Eyetech one wouldn't look right with my case).

As for even cooling, well, G4's don't need the amount that amd/intel bricks do...

I think the big point is that my first Amiga was an A1000, definately a nostalga thing, maybe one of the 'MicroA1' boards in an A1000 case, of course I need to find the A1000 case first

I think an A1 in the A1000 case would be really cool. It would be great to have the original keyboard or at least one that would fit into the garage. Also, is the memory expansion cover wide enough to stuff a CD-ROM in there?

If you have a dead 1000, please don't butcher it like that, instead post the reason why its dead here and fix it! ... If you want a PC to look retro, buy a new PC and wait a couple of months

But the yrun pretty damn hot, at least depending on the case. The Powerbook 12" (867?Mhz G4) is a fucking hot iron after a few minutes. My G3 runs much cooler.

Use the right hand side expansion slot for the cd-rom, or if you want to be really cool fit a slot loader and cut a bit out of the indented line that goes all the way along the front

If anyone wants to do this to an A4000 case, I've got a spare one - apart from the 'zorro slot back plate' which is in the tower case with the rest of it... but it wouldn't fit with an ATX board anyway...

make me an offer, I'm on the dole and need the cash! and don't forget, the A4K case will cost an arm and a leg to post anywhere! :hoo So if you live within pickup distance, it'll save you a LOT of cash

Actualy, might create LinAmiga in it... hmmm now where's that Dremmel....
