Anyone want to contribute audio samples for a game?

Can't discuss what i'm programming, its a hush hush super secret!

What I can tell you is its a cutesy puzzle game, and thats all I can tell you.

Want a credit in the game?

I need *ONE* person to supply me with audio samples for the game, basically need to be in Amiga RAW 8bit format so I can just sling them in.

I need the following:

Door Open
Door Close
Keys collected
Player Hurt
Keys appear

There will likely be others to follow, but this is basically just to add some atmosphere to the game as in the next few weeks it will be submitted to the publisher to show progress and from there on in, we decide when its getting released and how much time i've got to get it done, and so that the graphics artist has enough time to do whats needed as he is doing lots of other projects.

Payment? Copy of the game (digital) once its released and credit in the game is pretty much all I can offer.

I'm doing this more for the experience of actually starting my own game from start to completion, whereas all my previous work was adding to a codebase that already existed.

If anyone is interested, give me a shout, just respond here.

Samples should not be massive, but they should be clear and not muffled, so pick a happy medium.

Please do not just rip samples from existing Amiga games, as some sounds are so iconic and recognisable I dont want it to detract.

Of course if you want to rip from arcade/MAME or other game formats, by all means.

You might need to be more specific about the theme or themes) of the game. A hydraulic lift door isn't going to sound good in a medieval castle, nor is the heavy reverberating slam of a giant wooden door going to sound right looking for the exit as you backpedal while shooting at cyborg otters or something. Context matters.

sounds great as long as the "key collected" is as far removed from a console'esque "doodle'iiiing" sounding sonic/every console coin/pickup sound.

That is a very limited sound scope. It's quite sad that six/seven sounds is all they could come up with (and all of them sound very familiar).

Hmm...I'm not sure if know..., but every time you press the same button a new sound will generate, and then you can adjust the sliders for more unique sound.
Or, you can press the mutate button for another variation of the last sound you generated.
You can save the sound in 11khz 8bit, perfect for Amiga.

Great idea, sweet page.

But....I think Galahad wanted actual Amiga users to be part of the fun.

@Galahad/FLT

I took the challenge and had a go!

Just before christmas I picked up an Olympus sound recorder from a charity shop, decided it was a great time to see what it could do.

I have created everything bar one sound which was a VST sound rendered out.

I used a combination of:

Windows:
Renoise,
PT2-Clone-Win64

Winuae:
Protracker 3.1b

Samples are saved in 8bit iff format, stuffed in a rar archive.
How do you want me to send them? upload to the zone?

Hopefully they will be of some use.

I didn't know there was an online version. I was just using the offline version.

https://www.drpetter.se/project_sfxr.html

And there is a more advanced version too:

https://www.bfxr.net/

It can take a looooooooong time to generate the exact kind of bleep or plork you need though
