I have to say, I would have got one if one was released, just because I'm console mad!

In terms of it being released in the US and it failed, CD32 may not have seen the light of day!

Well if you weren't happy with the amiga not being a computer after the c64, you could have got the a500 to 'console' you!!!!

Indeed! What if the Genesis and SNES had been available in computer format? Most interesting...

The megadrive would not have been that exciting. It had a useless sound chip so any music programs would be out the window.

The snes would be more interesting, it could do some awesome visual effects (see R-Type 3 for example), and has a lot of power under the hood. It couldn't move things about as fast as the Megadrive though.

So again an inconclusive ramble from me!

The Snes one would look awful because Nintendo always used to have rubbish designs for consoles. The nes looked awful, the famicom was hideous and the snes looked like a lunch box.

Changed your avatar again eh Anti?

Wasn't there once a shitty Amstrad PC with built-in Megadrive?

Yeah there were to PC/Megadrive combinations.

One was called MegaPC (the Megadrive and Amstrad)

and the Teradrive which looked nice but again had a shitty pc attached to it

Well, for most people the Amiga was more a console than a computer, anyway.
Only difference was they had to put in a disk instead of a cartridge/CD
Ermm, I have to admit I was ( and probably still am ) one of these guys

I think of consoles as any system that uses a joystick, racingwheel, trackball, lightgun, etc and a bunch of buttons to control everything from loading to gameplay.

The A500 isnt a console because most of the games ran from a mouse and keyboard, same control as a normal pc.

Having said that I pretty much only use my A500 and A1200 for gaming or interfacing with a PC for transfering files that are used for gaming.

Well, ok, you have a joystick and also a mouse to bypass the intro and maybe even play the game, and for some games you even need the keyboard.

But what I mean is you don't have to know anything about the Amiga whn you just want to play games
On a C64 at least you needed to know some BASIC commands to load a disk directory or game, and on the PC you have to know how to install everything correctly and get the right drivers and all that, but on the Amiga it was really plain easy and for simple action games you almost never needed a keyboard anyway.

talking about the creative side of consoles...

i once went to a nightclub, being pretty nosey i took a look around the DJ box (as i always do)... low and behold a Multi-mega was linked up to the amp, the multi-mega had a huge open cart stuck into it...

the DJ explained that the graphics projected on the huge display screen where generated by the cart ?!?!?!

It's a MegaCD and Megadrive in 1.

You can also put batteries in it and carry it around as a personal cd player.

I own one! It's a truly superb piece of kit.

And it looks SEXY.

It's above my nomad in the 'I like owning this' category.
