Lemmings CAPS image

Has anyone managed to get the CAPS image of Lemmings to load? For me, it starts loading okay, then gets to the intro animation of the lemmings leaping out of the balloon and walking along the ground.

At this point, if I click the mouse to skip the intro (or just wait for it to end) the emulated Amiga crashes with strange colours and sounds.

I'm using WinUAE 0.8.22 Release 8 with the latest CAPS DLL from their site, and the OCS A600 configuration that CAPS have on their site, too.

Assuming you haven't changed anything vital in that configuration (like cycle exact mode etc)...
R8 winuae cpu core is screwed, it causes many if not all Copylock games (e.g Lemmings, Rick Dangerous etc) to fail, who knows what else... basically at least some cpu flag calculations used in Copylock games do fail possibly other things too, just no one noticed yet.
Just revert back to R7 and your problem shall be solved.

btw: it is an a500 config, an a600 would be completely different.

Smile

NOTE: works with latest beta ... will work in upcoming R9 again.
Cycle-exact is mandatory though ... so no go for slow(er) machines.

I guess if the poster had access to a new beta, he wouldn't have asked in the first place
Regardless, he can play the game NOW just use R7 that simple.

You're always sooooo funny dude

Actually, I posted this to point out that he won't have to use R7 anymore as soon as R9 is out. Consider that sometimes it happens that he *might* have to stay with an older version because this isn't fixed until release <$current + 2>. (in this case R10)

He asked for help, not comments on what would be possible should he have access to private software releases - or a time machine to gain access to non-existant software

davidk,

at least you get the gist of it. At least one type. That's the main thing. *deep sigh*
