Sol Negro

Hey, what do you think of this game? I've never seen it before.

Sol Negro

Sol Negro translates to "Black Sun". Sounds kind of racist, but maybe "negro" isn't a racist word in Spanish?

The word has origins long before any racist meaning was attached to it...

Negro

Yup, you're right. I was just doing some searching around on Google for "sol negro" and came across a lot of hits that use it. Growing up in the West it was always considered racist to even use the word negro. I'm sure the game would've been renamed if it was released in North America.

There was also a news story recently about a child dropping out of the final of a 200m race to answer their mobile/cell phone...

People take cell phones with them during a race? Its a sad day when technology ends up owning you instead of helping you.

Yeah - it's spread like cancer throughout the UK now...

It's hard to travel on the bus or train without someone having an unnecessary and loud conversation on a phone and offices throughout the country feature the sound of unanswered phones that have been left on desks while the owners go somewhere else.

Worse still, every child needs one for texting or speaking to friends or else their social life is 'ruined'.

And I recently read that phones will start featuring animal noises instead of ringtones! God help us...

People also can't seem to stop talking on their phones while driving. It's apparently so crucial to speak on the phone that they are willing to risk their own life and, more importantly, other people's lives while driving.

One guy gave me a lift in his car. He was having a conversation on the phone before he got into the car, he was talking while he drove and still talking after he stopped and got out!

It's against the law in several states, including New York State, to do this.

It just means black sun, no racial connotations whatsoever. Negro = Black color, so...

Well, I have never played the Amiga version, but the MSX version, like 95% of the stuff made by Opera, sucked HARD. And I mean it, it sucked REALLY HARD.

You aren't missing too much

"Sol Negro" is a way to say "eclipse" this game is inspired in movie from MichellePfeiffer and RutgerHauer : LadyFalcon I guess was its title.

Respect Opera, they strong point were the AmstradCPC, his games were good on that computer, on Spectrum and MSX they sucked bigtime.

The movie is: Ladyhawke, out on dvd for more, than a year. (Fox over here)
As for Opera afair they did Jai Alai that got me hooked for hours not much sport games eve did, apart from Speedball and the likes.
It had poor, but functional graphics, not much sound, but brilliant game play.

Many recent cellphones can use one or more recorded sounds instead of ringtones, at least Panasonic models could.
It does not have to be an animal noise just anything you can record/sample.

The mobile i got for my text-aholic missus last x-mas features polyphonic animal ringtones .. 1st thing i did was assign the sound of the cow 'mooooing' to whenever her mom rang.

Needless to say she wasnt impressed but ho hum i had my laugh.

Also the cat 'meowing' or dog 'barking' is quite fun for playing up our 3 cats .. *sigh* its a laugh a minute round here sometimes.

Mobile phones are the bain of our existence.

I use my mobile phone for making phone calls when I can't use my house phone. I always have it on silent/vibrate when I go anywhere with lots of people because it really pisses me off other peoples phones go off in public.

And what the hell is the need for key tones? Are people that stupid that they don't know when they pressed a button? ESPECIALLY when they are sitting behind you on a bus/train. Beep, beep, beep. *SMACK*

He he. Anyway, my phone is set to a 'ring' because I want a phone not a portable random jukebox.
