games you dont knew

There some game you dont knew back in 80/90es and you discovered now..? via HOL for example..

Ive discovered recently DeathTrap from Anco. man what a game...

Its a kind of Castlevania very good. and on title screen there are parallax scrolls ala ShadowOfTheBeast really cool. I hope some next level plays like this.

Imo its in the way of Lionheart,.. but for the moment seems much more addictive.

moreover musics are from CharlesDeenen. There are good graphics but some others are a bit ugly.. but overall graphics is fairly good.
Programmer is Christopher Durant.. someone knows smthing about this guy?? in hiscores figure Chatterbox from the WihzzKidz.

ok.. I stop now just Im happy with this addictive game.

=( Im just playing this DeathTrap and itsnt as good as I thought. Its very difficult and repetitive. I almost sure there isnt parallax levels.. just laberynthic ones.

anyway I strongly guess Bitmap Bros. inspired in this a bit for their Gods.. moreover when you see the final bosss of first level.

Paramax?? I going to take a look.. I love new old games =}

Last gem I discovered was Psyborg. Great fun trying to actually make it through the levels. And the speed means you've got a great semi-3D action game on the Amiga.

Thumbs up Typhoon Thompson

A couple of months ago I discovered Broderbund's Typhoon Thompson. I know this game since the days it was reviewed in Zzap (May 1990) but never had the chance to play it. When I had to grab a screenshot for the html-ised review, I played the game for a few hours - it is very addictive.

Like many Broderbund titles the game features tiny well-animated sprites and great gameplay. It really deserves anyone's attention.

Well I ain't gonna mention any special game because they're way too many

My point is, I was just a kid back during the lovely miggy days and I remember reading magazines and gazing at reviews but unfortunately I could only get my hands on few of all those games... And I remember how overjoyed I got when I could get ONE new game from some friend. Any game would do.

BUT today I can get my hands on every single one of all those I saw in the mags but could never get... And I can remember almost every screenshot and what the reviewers had to say. I mean if I knew back then that this would be possible... It's way cool

Scorpio. R-Type in vertical

[sorry if have been posted before in another thread]

WOW! an R-Type in vertical. Originally from 1988. Ive never heard from this gem. It looks like very well programmed. its name is Scorpio

youtube link.. [ Show youtube player ]

watch out for the weapons and final bosses. some of them are truly R-Type renditions. Even the animated title screen.

I had Scorpio! It was bloody marvellous - R-Type but vertically... well, for the first level at least. It quickly becomes another generic vertical shooter after that, though some of R-Type's enemy patterns do make an appearance in later levels.

And I just loved the music back then on my A1000 :-)
