Test

I've got 95% of all of the disks out of the loft now. There are literally hundreds. I'll keep you all informed of what's happening.

Now then....name that game!

Of course it's Obliterator.

Christ, there is SO MUCH STUFF! Quite a lot of test graphics as well from game ideas that I have no idea what they were supposed to be. Mad one. I've just found the graphics for "Mission Icarus" (including a title screen) which became Captain Fizz.

In Century Buildings in Brunswick Business Park, before we moved to what is now Sony Liverpool Studios in Wavertree, we had a room full of crap. You could hardly open the door. There were shelves of old FM Towns machines, boxes, bits of motherboards, hard drives, A570 drives (!), chairs, all sorts of rubbish. When we moved buildings everything in that room was getting put in the bin, so before that happened I went in a took every floppy I could find in there. This was nearly ten years ago! Consequently I have hundreds of disks of old development material (mostly graphics). There are test graphics, experimental animations, Sculpt4D files, final master graphics, complete hard drive backups (on about 150 disks each), and far too much stuff from Matrix Marauders. I just found some test animations from the fractal generator that was used for the Planetside demo. Looking back at it makes me realise just how far ahead we really were over everybody else at that time.

Lets face it, if there were software houses we'd want the developer files from it would be Psygnosis and The Bitmap Brothers

Competition time!!!

Graphics (not necessarily a complete set) for games that I've found on the disks so far: Terrorpods, Mission Icarus (Captain Fizz), Infestation, Beast, Beast2 (intro), Obliterator, Awesome, Matrix Marauders, Menace, early Aquaventura, Armourgeddon, Bill's Tomato Game, Killing Game Show, Air Support, Infestation.

I still need to find out what the backup program is that we used to use so that I can restore the harddrives.

It ran on it's own Intuition screen. It had a black background with red and white text. I think that you chose the files to backup using an expandable hierarchy on the left-hand side of the screen.

I just can't think of the name of it. Get yer thinking caps on. The person who can find this backup program gets this pin badge:

Two most popular backup programs were Quarterback, and HDB(ackup).

Just try to restore a disk with either, chances are one will be it.
HDB runs on its own screen, it is possible that an early version of QTB did the same.

I think it will be hdb.

What about Diavolo? Diavolo can use WB or it's own screen, has the tree on the left side, and is leagues better than QB or HDB!

:eek

I HAVE THAT PROGGY!
Or so I think. I think it's called SuperBack. Gotta look through my backups, but I clearly remember it! I can upload it tomorrow. Now I tink it's called ABAckup. Just found the disks, will post a screenie in a while...

Well, a quick look through hundreds of disks came up wit nothing :P I'm SURE I had this proggy, all I found it's the data disks, but I can't find the bloody program!

These backup disks say ÄBackup", but I'm almost SURE the rogram you are looking for is called SuperBack. a Google search came up with a shop where they sell it, but if you have patience with me I know I have it somewhere.

Though I bet someone is faster than me and posts the program.
