Eek TOSEC filenames

Can anyone tell me what does an [a] letter in ADFs' filenames mean? In other words what is the difference between for example:
Cannon Fodder (1993)(Sensible Software)[cr FLT](Disk 1 of 3).adf and
Cannon Fodder (1993)(Sensible Software)[cr FLT](Disk 1 of 3)[a].adf ??

It means an [a]lternative version - these are usually versions with minor changes.
