black 4/3 bars

Hi Toni,
could it be possible to display a gif anim or a light video instead of the left and right black bars ??
You know when we set aspect ratio to 4/3 ???
an animated background could be cool.

What a bizarre request... and one that I doubt is possible, or even if it is would add extra overhead to resources.

Anyway, if you don't like black borders then you could use the overlays mentioned in this thread: Overlay Frame/Picture with LED's?

It's because i did some anim for a gui which launch mame game etc.
A multi gui loader.
I remember that it displayed a video of saint dragon in the gui and i made an anim to add some scrolling to the video of st dragon and the result was pretty cool.
Without thinking of scrollings, it could be cool to have animations during a game.
A fast exemple : the game Lemmings with on the left and the right some lemmings who jump, etc...
And if it's a video who could put the official publicity of the game, etc.
And surely more.

The 4/3 bars is not an issue because there WERE NO 4/3 bars back in the day on CRT TVs and CRT Amiga monitors. It's just an unfortunate issue we have to put up with now these days, but then it's like the age-old debate of whether to watch a movie or TV show on a modern display with black bars top/bottom or on the sides, or fill them with the movie/TV content, which is baffling to me.

But if you want to put a picture in the black bars, as DamienD says, there are overlay options available for that. But a video playing where the black bars were would be too resource-intensive, and I don't know if Toni would be willing to go along with that.
