800x256 (800x240) resolution?

Hi, i know is not a winuae question, but more generic.

running workbench 40.42 in winuae, in a laptop with a 800x480 wide screen

I manage to use 724x240 using overscan control, and looks great but still have the small borders in left/right

But any idea if possible to achive 800x240? maybe a different monitor driver.. i tried some from floppy, like super72, vga, etc but always have PAL

Sorry my english

thanks

Load a Picasso driver and create a custom screen resolution with that?

thanks for answer, i think the version of winuae im using (1.0) not support piccaso emulation

I was thinking maybe some PAL monitor than support extended overscan or a config in winuae for more overscan

For example in Winfellow i can select very large overscan, and im able to do up to 768x240, that i think will be the maximum for PAL

768 like winfellow will be Ok for me, any ideas if possible to do? 724 is maximum i can get in winuae, thanks

If you're forced to use WinUAE 1.0 due to it being a severely old or underpowered laptop (which would account for the very low screen resolution) then I'm afraid you're probably stuck. I have no idea if WinFellow will allow you to use UAEGfx drivers under p96.

Yes, is a celeron 900, no more than 1.0 works at fullspeed

Winfellow i dont need to do anything, already have the option for "very large overscan" that give me 768 lines

I was thinking if possible and how to do the same in winuae. I preffer over winfellow because AGA and other stuff

thanks

Super72 screenmode have 800x300 and even 800x600 resolution, but it's not working in your case correctly.

Hi, thanks for reply, i already tried Super72, and tried 800x300, but i only can see half the screen (like 800x300 stretched in 400x300 in midle screen)

Better try 800x600 and manually cut down to 480. Probably 800x300 screen mode is wrongly recognised.

ok, doing a search i found this old thread

http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=45691

it seems PAL is limited to 768 lines because bandwith, and that why winfellow restrict to 768 in very large overscan

But why winuae limits to 724 i dont know

In hacked the PAL monitor, and i manage to create 768x240, but in winuae is limited to 724 when i go to overscan

I tested latest winuae 4.1.0 and still PAL is limited to 724 lines. Maybe is a winuae limit, thats why i cant do 768 wven with haked monitor (works in winfellow)

thanks all for help

Attach your hacked monitor file. It sounds problem is something else because programmed modes can have larger height and they do work.

You could try the Superplus driver (a sort of hacked PAL monitor driver).
Allows you an 800x300 resolution at ~15Khz
I've no idea how it behave in you monitor for y resolution
