Flashback on Dreamcast

Title says it all really. It's kind of an amalgamation of all the best bits from the various versions of flashback to form the definitive version. Its also officially licensed & endorsed by the owners of the original game.

Check these links out;

I hope its successful. probably getting ahead of myself, but I'd would love to see an official series like this of the best Amiga games, such as Turrican & bitmap bros games etc.

Nice, I was looking for somewhere to purchase the US / Japan version as I'm not a fan of the Dreamcast PAL cases. Will definitely pre-order this, the reviews look good.

No, its a full on conversion using assets from previous versions, essentially cherry picking the best bits from previous releases for a native dreamcast release.

In the title menu there is a "emulation" section that enables you to play the original 16bit Megadrive version.

Why would anyone support this - he took Open Source (free) Reminiscence
http://cyxdown.free.fr/reminiscence/ and is trying to peddle it for $40 ?

Don't support this garbage

My.. you are rude aren't you.. If you read the article on the dreamcastjunkyard site you will realise there's been quite a bit of work put into it. It is also fully endorsed by delphine with a choice of pal and ntsc style game case releases.

So for me being a Dreamcast fan that still games on the machine, having a port of one of my favourite Amiga games enhanced with added features, that just works is a definite buy.

Had a read of the article, it does seem there's been a bit of work on it. Would be nice to have emulated the original amiga version instead of megadrive. Also I like the added speech. Which other version had speech?

See here

Probably one of these:

a) 3DO
b) FM-Towns
c) Philips CD-I
d) Sega Mega-CD/Sega CD

...I have the "FM-Towns" and "Philips CD-I" versions but can't remember; been many moons since I last played them.

OK what a shame, this is a huge missed opportunity.

It says it uses the "best bits" of previous Flashbacks, yet it stuck to the sshitty low-res graphics of most versions.

The best version, then, still remains the Mac version, with ultra detailed graphics on 640x480. Which the Dreamcast could have easily done.

Look at all this added detail:

Still prefer the Amiga or Megadrive version over the look of the Mac one, personal taste I guess.
