Just out of curiosity... Ok slim can get an LCD screen. How does going back and forth and into the folders work with just one button?
I'd love to see a working video explaining.

As far as I know you would load your disks into the drive memory (ex disk 1-3 of a game) then in game if you need to swap disks instead of going back and forward like you can with 2 buttons, you instead have to cycle through them with the 1 button.

Personally if I was going to spend more than £15 on a emu drive I would just go for the higher models of the HxC so can have display and multiple buttons. If I wanted to save money I would go for Gotek. I just find the HxC slim completely pointless as it costs 3 times as much as Gotek and has no display and only one button so what exactly are you getting for your extra money?

This is simple : The 3 buttons can be connected on the board too.
The usage is then exactly the same as all others HxC floppy emulators.

Adz it can play discs with copy protection. The gotek cant. As stated you can add a display and buttons.

Ah wasn't aware of that.

But tbh, 99% of cases most people we would be playing cracked/non-protected versions anyway so not a big deal.

The HxC is still a far far superior solution imo, compatibility is close to flawless - the same can't be said of the gotek

Can you please elaborate on why you think it is "far far" superior?

What compatibility issues have you noticed with Gotek?

I'm considering getting a HxC for the 3 button/display/card option in next couple of month. Not noticed any issues with Gotek so far though?

* Native simultaneous dual drive support which is even hardware selectable
* Better quality software
* Better native interface with LCD support (even the slim supports lcd and 3 buttons as others have mentioned)
* flashing the HxC's doesn't require praying to your deity of choice and performing voodoo rituals
* HxC PCD versions are designed to mount using the standard drive mounting holes, this means you only need a couple of pub stand-offs to raise it up to the right height to easily access the SD card slot

I've seen a few mentions here and there of compatibility issues with the gotek but can't recall them off the top of my head.

The reality is that the gotek is a really neat hack but the HxC is a fully engineered solution.

dJOS its worth mentioning that with a firmware update the gotek could match the hxc in terms of compatibility and performance.. The hardware is capable of emulating the protected formats (fast enough cpu/timers etc) and it has a fair bit of flash space left too. When and if that firmware is ever written... Who knows. ......

Yeah the gotek firmware etc is a hobby project, the HxC is "more" professional and better supported.

I've certainly had a minor issue fixed by the team and was very happy with their support.

The MegaDrive256 is better - everything works as well and on top of that it eats ADFs directly. Good job tnt23! :-D

lets break it down:

w hd load

2nd and 3rd section should give you a clue as to what it's designed for and then by deduction answer your question.

A friend of Mine has a GoTek with latest Amiga firmware, here's his feedback to me just yesterday:

having issues with some games not seeing the 2nd disk when running on the Gotek EMU. Also the selector software not loading properly some times, I have had to rest twice once to get it to load
