Hi all,
I have a similar problem using Roadshow and a PCMCIA card. The card is an Orinoco Gold which I bought years ago and never used until today. So on my clean, fresh OS3.1.4 installation I installed Roadshow and Prism2. I did *not* install card patch etc as I read somewhere it isn't necessary in Os3.1.4 anymore. Then I had set my local wifi to B mode (as my Advanced Tomato firmware does not allow B/G not mixed. Sadly the connection is only up for one second or so. WirelessManager is stating: Code:
Associated with 58:6d:8f:40:11:e8 WPA: Key negotiation completed with 58:6d:8f:40:11:e8 [PTK=TKIP GTK=TKIP] CTRL-EVENT-CONNECTED - Connection to 58:6d:8f:40:11:e8 completed (auth) [id=0 id_str=] CTRL-EVENT-DISCONNECTED bssid=58:6d:8f:40:11:e8 reason=0 Last edited by thyslo; 07 March 2019 at 09:05. |

If you want Orinoco to work with your router you need to set it up into: WPA/TKIP - no mixed mode, no WPA/WPA2, no TKIP/AES - just WPA/TKIP. Also, B or B/G or B/G/N mode. Otherwise you will not be able to associate to your router. Only if you associate with your router will you be able to use Roadshow to connect to the Internet. The other option is to get a WPA2/AES WIFI card that has been previously flashed/upgraded. For example this one: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/WIFI-CARD...IAAOSwFAtcI852 |

So i've bought another PCMCIA card, a XI-300. This one should be able to use WPA2-PSK.
And it seems to connect. But I can't access the internet or ping e.g. www.google.de Also I can't ping my router on 192.168.1.1. Here's a screenshot: http://cloud.oscott.de/index.php/s/NQF2xyXZZgqjKoW I left Prism2 at the default settings to use DHCP: Code:
#address=192.168.1.133 #netmask=255.255.255.0 configure=dhcp Code:
nameserver 192.168.1.1 Code:
default 192.168.1.1 Last edited by thyslo; 24 March 2019 at 18:06. |

I use DHCP also, but as a result have nothing set in name_resolution or routes as this should then be established during the DHCP part of things (and indeed it is, as my net connection via Roadshow works).
What does the ShowNetStatus command return? |

Lock the wifi to 802.11b and use WPA2-TKIP (not AES or Mixed). |

1) Installed CardReset and CardPatch and call them from the startup-sequence after the SetPatch line. I read that OS3.1.4 fixed some PCMCIA reagarded things, but these patches still seem to be needed. 2) Set the Wifi network in the router to "B only",WPA2P/TKIP. 3) Then I unset everything in name_resolution and in routes by commenting out all lines in these files. So my current connection attempt goes like this: Code:
> WirelessManager prism2.device Trying to associate with 58:6d:8f:40:11:e8 (SSID='MyWifiNetwork' freq=2412 MHz) Associated with 58:6d:8f:40:11:e8 WPA: Key negotiation completed with 58:6d:8f:40:11:e8 [PTK=TKIP GTK=TKIP] CTRL-EVENT-CONNECTED - Connection to 58:6d:8f:40:11:e8 completed (auth) [id=0 id_str=] > ShowNetStatus Local address = (Not set) Default route = (Not set) Domain Name System Server = 127.0.0.1 > ping google.de ping: host name lookup failure for "google.de"; try again How can I solve this? |

Did you ever call AddNetInterface?

Oh yeah - thats right. I forgot to run AddNetInterface..
But that was no full solution. Because after the line Code:
WirelessManager prism2.device Code:
AddNetInterfacee prism2 But then there was a success: by changing the file Prism2 to a static IP and *not* using DHCP I got connected. Now 'ping google.de', IBrowse etc. works. I don't understand why it's not working with DHCP but I can live with a static IP :-) |

this PCMCIA WIFI howto below is for IP using the DHCP not static ip protocol as it will automatically configure it for you using the Roadshow prism2 interface script file.
1. Install Prism2 latest from aminet and input your SSID and Password when asked. 2. install Roadshow, demo or pay for it 3. install Amissl from aminet. And install cardpatch too for the PCMCIA 4. now find your Router Gateway IP this is the one that allows you enter the router settings, I.E mine is 192.168.0.1 5. You will need to find the DNS NAMESERVERS , you can get these from your Router settings normally in the INFO section. 6. Now you need to edit some Roadshow files, so open text editor and go to Devs/Internet and open the `ROUTES `file, there you put your gateway IP, so at the bottom of the file input your Default Gateway by inputting `default 192.168.0.1 ( Example, this is my Default gateway IP) save the file. 7. Now open the Name_resolution file in the same folder and look for the #nameservers, here you replace the ones there with your nameservers from your router info, you might have two, and then remove the # at the front of the text so they will be active, so my examples nameserver 194.168.4.100 nameserver 194.168.8.100 then save this file 8 .Nearly there 9. Now open a Shell window and input ` addnetinterface prism2 ` , you should see some output with the IP addresses you have given RoadShow. 10. This command will add the prism2.device so you can get online, so input ` wirelessmanager prism2.device `, again you should get some output saying connected, if yes then open a browser like IBrowse and you should be online Last edited by supaduper; 06 March 2023 at 04:57. |

For a beginner I would suggest using an open WiFi network to get things going in the first place, at least I never managed to connect my Amigas to a secured network. And to add to that, I also haven't been able to connect the A to any of my modern WiFi networks even without a password. Tried connecting via a few different routers but it didn't take me far, it was only when I bought an old scond hand Netgear WNR2000v5 N300 WiFi router when I got things rolling. Also using an Android phone as a hotspot never took me anywhere.
