I love how the box has Arnie from film Commando on it. Looks like he's a long the bottom of the screen as well during the game

This Karateka game is awesome! I remember playing on a C64 somewhere (or was it Apple II), and found it already good. But the ST version is excellent. Great work.

Gauntlet is also very well ported.

I tested the other ports, and I'm sure they're faithful, but of course disappointing because hey, they're ST versions

I'm surprised you haven't played any of these ports previously jotd.

More information in this thread, which I'm sure I've mentioned to you before: Ports / Conversions --> Amiga

Yeah, I knew those existed a while ago, it's just that I didn't take time to test them. The technical feat to convert from the ST and respect the AmigaOS too beats me. You have to know both machines very well to be able to do such things. and when something goes wrong, well, ... go figure!

I'm not an avid player but I think I'll retry Karateka. It is so great and reminds so much of the latter Prince of Persia. J. Mechner is so talented!

Indeed, although from what I remember reading he was only responsible for the original Apple II versions of the games, ports have been done by other people.

Yup Karateka rocks; and the Atari ST version is the best available

So happy that meynaf decided to attempt / complete this port

I only ever played on the ST before so to have this on my Amiga is excellent and makes me very happy.

I really want to fucking kill that bastard Vulture! It's a pain in the foot!

Other news,

@Meynaf and @DamienD
I have been messing with configuring my Apollo 1260 last week or so. I do not know if this is anything to do with it but I was using the same CF Hard drive earlier but in WINUAE and suddenly Artic Moves was alright again and totally playable and quick enough. None of this waiting 10seconds every time I jump in the air! I couldn't believe it. So then I tried it but on my real Amiga.

Holy shit it's working again!

I dunno if doing stuff to the Apollo worked or it just was a fluke but either I'm now able to enjoy it properly.

So on Mission one what the hell am I supposed to use the lift for? All tips appreciated.

I would not object to the ide of a WHD load version of this by the way, it would still be useful even if I did get my version working again. So pleased.

Thank you for these ports Meynaf
I been messing with

It's very difficult game. I can do the first part of Mission 1 ok, but there are some tricky bits with the lifts.

Watch the gamemaster hipoonios' YouTube video here:

It's doable, just takes practice and you need to be real quick after hitting that switch

As mentioned, I can complete the first part of Mission 1 ok; afterwards it becomes way too complex for me...

hipoonios makes it look sooooo easy, but he is the gamemaster

On the first part of Mission 1 there are 5 x radar stations you need to find / blow up. Of course you also need to find 5 x bombs.

These aren't that hard to find, just explore a little

Anyway, can a GMod please move all "Arctic Moves" discussion to a thread under the "support.Games" section?

I am having an issue with the controls of Meynaf's version of Karateka. During a fight, I can high / low punch or kick, but not middle punch or kick. Anyone else having the same issue ? Using a French (Azerty) keyboard, A-Z, W-X work but Q-S are inoperative, same with any other key press, I am not allowed to middle kick or punch. I play from the ADF.
Btw, being able to bow is a nice touch!

The ADF isn't my version. If you want some support, try to reproduce with regular hd installable game i uploaded.

The .ADF that I created is just your original karateka.lzx file extracted:
None of your files have been hacked / changed.

That's still not my version.
The port hasn't been designed to be played like that. It normally works, but by principle, anything touched in any manner isn't supported by me anymore.

It's all right, I shall simply adjust my speech accordingly : "Hey, remember Karateka on Apple II ? Well, now you can play Physically Decrepit Karateka on the Amiga thanks to meynaf."

What your exact files stored on a floppy disk as apposed to a hard drive?

Anyway, I get it... and just for the record all keys / joystick works fine here

What are those keys for various moves if I may ask ? It's not mentioned in the ReadMe, just "keys located at the left of the keyboard". Maybe the fact that you use a QWERTY keyboard has something to do with it. Also, to use a joystick, you need a press a key first. I won't ask why is that, but I'd be curious to know if it is really necessary.
