Looking for WB set up with some basics
I would love when I get home in the evening to do my computer work on an emulated Amiga rather than on my work computer. I'm full-time employed taking college classes at weekends and evenings and trying to be a good parent also :/
Can anyone provide me with an 'image' or something that requires no setup and gives me an Amiga desktop with a word processor and email? A web browser would also be amazing. As I say, I have no time and I'm not being lazy but I don't mind treating someone to a few cups of coffee via PayPal if you can make it really easy for me. I have FS-UAE installed on my Ubuntu machine. many thanks, Ten <edit>Oh yeah, the big problem - it has to used Dvorak keyboard layout</edit> Last edited by TenLeftFingers; 26 February 2014 at 22:31. |

I used the 3.1 guide as a good start to get my Workbench setup nicely. No easy route to get a browser up, took my weeks to get my TCP/IP stack running with my wifi.

some days ago, there was an disk-set which updates a standard os/wb 3.1 system with many usefull tools - but i cannot find nor remember the name of the author/posting.
i'm also not sure about all the tools installed, but at least something to look at. does anyone remember, knows the disk-set/update? edit: I start to understand - nothing else as of yet, no basic workbench system? Edit #2: there are some tutorials: "How to Install a complete system using FS-UAE" : Installing ClassicWB in FS-UAE Installing AmiKit in FS-UAE give it a try, it isn't that timeconsuming and almost easy Last edited by emufan; 27 February 2014 at 00:04. |

It is against the EAB rules both to request Workbench installations and to upload them, as the files involved are copyrighted. You're going to have to create your Amiga desktop yourself, I'm afraid. |

Gurth, Emufan - thanks for the links. If I thought I could get it sorted in a couple of hours I'd be willing to give it a go - but last time I tried I was spending hours getting Dvorak and web-browsing working. I think I'll just leave it as by the time I have time, I won't be pining for it as much.
Prowler, I did question that afterwards. Apologies, and thanks for not banning me. I withdraw my request then. |

The best is if you get a pack like Amiga Forever. After installing it you can install a complete setup like AmiKit with the link of emufan above. If you already have the OS39 Cd you can use it instead of AForever, or you can install AmiKit without installing AForever, just with its cd.

Thanks Retrofan - the OS39/40 CD sounds like an even better option now that you mention it. Maybe I could run it in a VM or something and have my laptop run it fullscreen on startup - otherwise UAE on Ubuntu might run it for me.

I use AF with Amikit, as Retrofan suggested earlier, it's a great piece of kit.
