Music emulation timeing problems?
Winuae sound timing
I want to record some tunes while in emulation. I read on here a couple of days ago from one of you guys that perhaps Amiga emulation isn't the way to go when it comes to using trackers.Something to do with the key timeing or something. I'm wanting to know a bit more about this because i'm not entirely sure the music i'm hearing coming out of Winuae regarding musics, is as it should be ie notes sounding 100% rather than 95% close.I'm talking about the timeing of notes here rather than pitch. It's hard to tell if the music is being recreated properly as my apreciation of timeing over the years has also increased as it does i guess. No stuttering problems or lag of that nature from the emulation this end but a feeling that maybe emulation isn't the route i should take concerning getting my Amiga mp3's. What's people's feelings on this. Last edited by Adropac2; 26 December 2007 at 19:55. |

Tried wave output? (output panel, open file dialog, change type to "wave")
"Real time" sound quality depends on too many variables. Never ever use it for recording. |

Thanks for response Toni
Actually i'm using an Xbox and recording into the line in.I wouldn't want to put any further strain on my fairly moderate PC so guessed i shouldn't record and emulate using PC. |

Built-in recording feature creates correct sound files even if PC is "too slow" and can't emulate in real time. It just takes longer.

I guess what i'm wanting to know is if the music generated from Winuae, is 100% in timing terms, or are we talking at the very least not noticably out of time.

Quote:
A500 mode should be "internally" near-perfect. ("external" timing issues between host hardware and emulation can cause other problems but this is about internal recording) 68020+/JIT modes may or may not have (major) issues. Note that totally missing samples/notes are usually caused by bad player that uses CPU timing loops. (can also happen on real Amigas) |

Ok thanks for all of this, i'll bear it in mind.
Thanks also for your continued excellence on Winuae, i'm guessing you get that all the time though |
