I just caught wind of this thread... Sandruzzo great, keep going, just use placeholders to build your engine, don't wait for graphics (It'll only slow you down waiting) )
Looks like your getting lots of good advice here... ok back to work.. |

Scrolling with left-right and up-down limits done. Still some visual bugs, but all seems good.

@malko
Just think if It worth to switch to full 8 way scrolling, but I need a lot more ram, since to go at full speed, I need 3 buffer. Or, just left As it is, with a limited 8 way scroll. Or maybe use my engine for a beat them up project. Just thinking |

I did not play too much on Metal Slug but seems to remember game maps were rarely more than two screens high, you could reduce to 1.5 and make transition screens between areas (like simulating elevators and such)

Currently I'm looking into this players' sheet, and try to figure out, how to go on. The idea is to have all by bob, but only 8 colors for each kind. 4 colors per explosion. This, will left HW Sprite to use them us Parallax.
With players' We could split it into 2 bobs' and having 16 total colors. Just some ideas. |

I'm gonna use one file for one frame. I know it'll be a pain in the ass, but, by doing so, I can further optimeze blitter setup and cpu usage

Sorry for the late, but I hade to change Windows os, and was a NightMare!! Btw still some trouble with keyboard mapping, and working whitout copy and paste is even worse!
I had to change scrollings' tiles blit, since before, i was done all into one shot, and this way could have kill performance when was time to do so. Now, I'm spreading them throughout shift register change. |
