If Windows can evolve from a graphical shell on top of MS-DOS into a multi-user system with memory protection, surely AmigaOS can too?

One of the things I love about the Amiga is that it doesn't put me in a sandbox and treat me like a criminal. No tiresome logon procedures or having to type 'sudu' to do anything useful, hiding stuff from me or sticking my files in directories with stupidly long names. No rejecting 'unsigned' drivers or preventing me from modifying system software. No 'security' processes slowing everything down and constantly phoning home to report my activities. With the Amiga I feel that it is my computer and it will do what I want! If I need memory protection I run Enforcer and Mungwall. I don't let other people play around with my Amiga, so why would I need multi-user? |

Reading the HRM 25 years later and STILL being impressed. The Amiga wasn't a computer. It was a work of art.

what make me so warm in 2018 is :
- the support in hardware (tf328) by terrible fire and other cards.... - the growing number of good games out and in finished product at the last of the year - the new magazine of Amigajay "CD32 scène" cause the Amiga community/scene is alive & kicking. - this forum who have the best for support. who need more to be happy |

Great thread
I'm constantly blown away by those guys (and gals) that constantly figure out ways of squeezing EVEN MORE performance out of bog-standard Amigas. More and more impressive demos. Even better audio performance... Amazing And the community is by far and away the best on the planet. I'm always happy when I peruse this board. And people, new and old to coding, are still producing games for the Amiga. And magazines. AND they're actually worth paying for, too. Utterly fantastic! |

Games, many still play well. Some have aged, but many are still great.
Hardware - lots of upgrade possibilities with new gear. Community, still lots of people excited about using Amigas like here on EAB. Soul, Amiga has soul. Its not really describable but that is why a lot of us still love the Amiga even today. It was different, it left a mark on us. We still adore and respect the machine, and those that made is possible. |

WinUAE is what blows my mind. Warm & fuzzy feelings of nostalgia every time I fire it up. So. Damn. Good. In fact; Greatness <3

AmigaOS 3.1.4 will be delivered on floppies and I am sure some other media too.
It amazes me that we are going to have an update after much more than a decade. And it is not vaporware at all. I have been testing it since january, so I know what I am talking about. |

I have a couple of Q’s 1. Will it work on an ECS machine with a 3.1 Rom? 2. Can it be installed over WB2.1 or does it need a fresh install? Thanks. |

1. Yes. But you'd be better off with a 3.1.4 rom to avoid the reboots caused by softkicking the updates.
2. Probably. But it's always better to start fresh with a new OS. |

One thing I love with Amiga is the amiga-guide format, which is very nice for making simple GUIs. For example I have a few scripts that gives me a frontend to Aminet, using Multiview. Excellent for day-to-day aminet checkups, and a must for lowmem systems, like the Minimig.

Yep, you are right
This possibility of transferring "digital images" into "real world" is fantastic Sadly i don't have the real thing to try that |

The possibility to use a card like ACA500 and hook a 060 card to my A500 or use a Vampire and make a quantum leap of like let's say 10 years in speed (1987-1997)
