CD32 Screen Issue

Hi. I'm new to this site and in need of help. I've always been a fan of Amiga having owned A600, A1200 & CD32 (prior had C16, Vic20 and C64). Lately, my CD32 has had issues switching on and when I can get it on the screen is all over the place. I've read about the capacitor issues and the 2 main culprits have been replaced however I'm still having the same issues. Is this a common problem and is there a fix? Do all the capacitors need replacing or is my beloved CD32 near its end

Hi and welcome to EAB Woz75

I have moved your thread from the "News" forum to the "support.Hardware" forum for your CD32 problem I think you'll find it'll get more of a reaction over here

There is more than just two electrolytic capacitors on a CD32 that you have to replace.

Follow this thread: http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=72292

I guess you replaced some of the sausage "big can" ones. You need to do the others.

Unfortunately all caps dnees to be replaced, they can do a lot of damage in CD32 as therey is plenty of them.

Hi,

When you say trouble switching on, do you mean just the screen and/or the power LED on the top does not come on?

If it is just the screen, what output are you using? Can you try using another output (composite) to see for example it is the RF Modulator etc playing up?

Maybe the PSU is playing up? Are they not from the scrapped C65? I know C64 PSU's fail and can spike the 5v line Are they a similar design?

My CD32 came without a PSU so I had to mod a laptop one.
