A500/2000 mikronic chipram expansion help

I've just purchased this chipram upgrade which i am hoping to install in my A2000.

Has anyone seen one? as i can find no documentation at all for it.

Can i use a 2mb agnus from a faulty A600 motherboard?

Any help greatly appreciated.

I'm pretty sure the wire coming off requires a constant 5v.

no worries my friend,

before you yomp in an Agni, get your multi meter out... we need to make sure that you need a 318xx series or the other one (a500+)

okie doogie...

times up for testing... we need to test pin[42] for Ground

if its ground then its an 318 series 8375 (a600) if its NOT ground then its a 390 series (a500+)

find the ground plane on one of the other chips.

Now I would suggest one of the RAM chips (let me get a pdf... aha! there it is...)

now we can discover where the GND plane is... and then from that find out what pin 42 is upto

I would suspect the large plane on the outside/edge of the card as the ground plane...

Oooo, can I use these pics for BBoAH?

Hope you didn't get it from a guy called satiropan/urantia in Italy

He's posted all over the net that he's got one that doesn't work

Alex...i have emaoled them into the BBOAH after i could not find any info on this card.....i did get it from that italian bloke on Amiga.org but figured at 5 euro's its worth a shot.
Apparently a few of these chipram expansions don't work with certain revisions of A2000 mobo's..especialy the 6.2 and as mine is a 6.0...again...worth a shot.

If that still fails i'll try it in an A500 and last but not least...give it to Zetro to play with

CDTV, that is the place to use a 2MB Agnus upgrade, if you dont have one then you should bally well go out now and buy one!

Although seeing as how you swapped me a CDTV keyboard for a buffered IDE interface I doubt you've got a CDTV anymore?

I've always wanted a CDTV...it's on my to collect list.

But i realy think my 2000 would benefit..i'm sure it would speed up the DMA tranfers to the DKB2632 massively.

As you can see from my links above, he paid €30 off ebay!

I'm sure i read on Amiga.org that having 1mb of chipram is like a bottleneck in comparison to 2mb's when accessing 32bit ram...is it not true then?

Don't think so, no. It's a bit like saying if I buy 2 Ferraris I can go twice as fast

Valid point...but having double the onboard cache on a cpu greatly increases performance.

And the bugatti veyron has 2 v8 engines...say no more
