echo2 for AmigaOS

Hi All,

Back in 1991 when I was learning to progam in C on the Amiga as a teenager, I created a program that was an enhanced version of the Amiga CLI's "echo" command. Enhancements included the ability to add borders, colors, spacing and styles to text, and also the ability to echo text into requesters and alerts.

Well, almost 30 years later I recovered the program off an old disk and last year enlisted the help of one of the members on this very board (Niklas) who very kindly helped solve some tricky programming to allow centering of text, finally completing the program.

I'm now releasing it as an open source project for anyone who may find it useful. I also created a website which I hope one day can host a full web-based implementation.

Here are the links:

GitHub: https://github.com/s--g/echo2
Website: http://echo2.org

I hope this little program may be of use to someone! Feel free to use it as you please.

Many thanks again to Niklas and this great community.

Steven

I've attached 68k and aros-i386 versions. Need tests though, they hangs if -r option is used.
Attached Files
File Type: zip echo2.zip (25.8 KB, 27 views)

Yes, that's correct malko. Many thanks.

The other way to get to the compiled version is to expand the "Assets" section on the Releases page in GitHub. You should then see the "echo2" binary at the top of the list.

Thanks for the aros-i386 compile Ami. I'll try to reproduce the issue with -r option.

Your executable from GitHub is working fine. It looks like VBCC and GCC adds something messy.

What compiler you use? Post your compile options too.
