How to use SA_Pens

I can't really figure out how the pen array works, no matter what values I put in it doesn't seem to change anything (except making the 3D style border). Examples please?

Nevermind, I feel like an idiot now.
I reallised I wasn't putting the NS_EXTENDED type into my screen, so it was disregarding the tag list.

It's bizarre though, as it still gave me the new look whereas it wasn't before.
