Ricky v2.6

My take on Rick Dangerous ...

however some files have been lost in a recent hard drive update - sorry, details are in the game notes:

The game is playable and fully works but if you find a fault or level error please let me know.

[ Show youtube player ]

notes:

The dogs cannot be killed. everything shoots or wants to eat you :-)

Escape the castle and get to the plane in 14 levels.

i had wanted to add much more but rather than delete this game i have uploaded it here and i will pop it on Aminet.
One day i may use the graphics on something else.

If required i will make an ADF

Bad Santa2 coming Christmas 2015...

instructions -

Space bar or fire to use levers.
Dogs kill
get the ammo
and you won't make it to the end.
14 levels and a plane are waiting...

Things i wanted to add or were lost.

Death sounds and animations
death screen music
intro and instructions
traps with visual clues ...no sudden death

so what you left with is
sudden death and a loop to the beginning , sorry

My games have been criticised for being too easy , but that was the point. i wanted kids to play them mostly or with dad lets say. if its too hard kids get bored. however I've made this harder and a pain the the neck...I'm interested to see if anyone makes it to the plane.

Nice to see you are releasing this game. I really liked Tomb of Mummy game and your Jay the Miner game

I did a quick play on this. Is it even possible to not die on the first enemy?

I reached level 3 but got stuck right in the beginning of the level. The switch is not working so it's not possible to continue

Thanks ,

Your much better at playing them than me so I ramped the hardness up a bit on this one.

Yes it's a bit tricky , I have some better games to complete.. This one gave me lots of trouble for some reason ,crashing and quitting during making it. Lots of sounds are missing too sadly.

But yes you can just jump over the wall and make it in level one and press the fire button to work
The switch

I should write instructions ...

Missing features:
No death sound on the player or animation - it just crashes for some reason.
Extra levels , trap doors and traps - all lost due to a missing graphic file
Intro - I never did one
End / completion screen & music - never done
Instructions - never done , I was going to delete this

My next games will be based on the more than one way to complete a level idea and I also have an rpg type isometric game forming in my head.

On and a cute Santa game as well - bad Santa 2 , not sure on the plot but it involves Santa , drink , naked girls and strip clubs ...

Space bar - flips the levers too for some reason I've just seen I'm not sure if this is a emulation thing or it its the same on a real Amiga.

ill try this on a real Amiga on sunday

Level 3 is where it gets hard.

Ok, with spacebar it worked... well, the lever did not change but it worked!

However, there are more bugs in the game. The jump height is not set high enough. On level 5 you can't reach the extra life and I'm stuck again. This time on level 6. You can't jump up here because the jump height is not enough:

Is there some kind of level editor for Rick dangerous that we could make our own levels?

Good work and thanks for fixing the bugs so quickly

BTW... Why do you have a energy meter in the panel? Every time I get hit i die a full life. Also, now the panel is wider than the actual game = does not look good. So better remove that from the panel if it is not used.

Another confusing thing... What's the name of the game? Ricky or what the title screen says: Rick Dangerous - The Other Levels?

I will give the new version another go in a couple of days. I really want to finish all levels

And looking forward for your Santa game as well

Ha ha I called it Ricky as it's just easier to type and I'm lazy but I had wanted to do a tribute to Rick Dangerous and make some new levels .. Well that was the plan but as some files for the game were lost and it crashes when I added lots of sound I just gave up with it.

The energy meter was to of been a feature as I intended to give out extra lives very sparingly but I was going to give out energy packs but this was never introduced properly either.

I did put a lot of work into this game initially but the faults put me off finishing it .

I did have sampled sound at the beginning , "another visitor , stay a while - stay forever"

I'm still toying with expanding this game in to a pitfall type thing with longer and bigger levels and one treasure to find on each level.

Mike.

And the mail address specified in the readme is working? checked the SPAM folder? I just tested the sending process again, it works.

You need to upload readme files as pure ASCII files, not as RTF. Basename for archive and readme need to be identical (both need to be called "Ricky2.5.*") and spaces in filenames are not allowed.

Thanks for supporting Aminet.
