Midnight Resistance, Contra, Gryzor type games

Midnight resistance is one of my favourite games. I recently got into playing Contra / Gryzor on the NES.

I know Super C exists on the Amiga but that kinda sucks.

So I thought ask you guys what games you know of on the Amiga in the same kinda style?

First impressions are it's not bad, your right about the controls though. It's having to press up to get up that spoils it.

I'll get used to it with a bit of practive hopefully

There aren't many strict Contra/Gryzor clones for the Amiga. Similar games = Run and Gun genre:

Ruff'n Tumble
Turrican 1-3
Land of Genesis (Amiga CD)
Rolling Thunder
RoboCop
Navy Seals
Hawkeye
Jim Power
Assassin

I knew of Ruff'n Tumble, it is a cool game. Jim power seems to have the same pace as Contra. Assasin looks very interesting aswell. Only checked them out on You tube so far. Will give them a spin.

Well I happened to have Jim Power on my A1200 HD, just never played it. I've only had one go at the moment and I'll defintely have some more. The biggest let down I can see is that you stop running when you shoot! If it wasn't for that it would be great

AH! I only played an Amiga Action demo of that, found it really cool but never ever in my life got to play the actual full version. Its only been 20 years, I think its time now I gave it a shot.

As an addition to this thread, Fireforce perhaps? Tough as nails to beat, but I kind of enjoyed it; about as run & gun as you can make it

More titles you can check are:
Robocop 2
After The War - second load.
Alien 3

Not 360degrees aiming, but Metal Law is nice futuristic furious action.
Maybe Rubicon too, but I find it very ugly and uninspired.

Oof Robocop 2. Aka the "you can't dodge the bullets, just run from health pack to health pack" shooter. Unplayable for me personally.

Metal Law is well put together, love the music. Got to the second level on my first go, the difficulty seemed to ramp up pretty fast from there. Need to put After the war on my HD yet.

Certainely got some to go at
