Do I have CrossDOS?
Complete noob question, sorry guys.
I have Classic WB and want to know if I have CrossDOS as I'm thinking of using it to transfer from PC to Amiga. I've looked everywhere in the Amiga and cannot actually see anything called CrossDOS? Thank you, |

CrossDOS is only available in Workbench 3.0 and 2.1.
Go to DEVS: DOSDrivers . If you see a PC0: device you have CrossDOS. |

As I said, it's easier to check your Workbench version. 3.0 and 2.1 have it, 2.0 and 3.1 don't.
Pretty sure you don't. |

pc0 and pc1 is what you need to drop into devs/dosdrivers.
then you should be able to read pc 720 k disks. or just click on them to activate. if your only using your internal drive, just copy over pc0. if you want to find out your workbench version download and install syspeed2.6 it will tell you the version you have.its available on aminet. i'll find out and post a link sysspeed link: http://aminet.net/util/moni/sspeed26.lha whichamiga: http://aminet.net/util/moni/WhichAmiga.lha or you could have a look at showconfig built into workbench, for a bit of info. showconfig should be in system/tools Last edited by roy bates; 01 January 2013 at 20:06. |

I've come across this guide here - http://www.l8r.net/technical/t-crossdos.shtml
I've moved the pc0 to devs/dos drivers and according to the guide I think I should see the thing on my desktop when I reboot, but I don't? |

Think the game I put in has died, because I just put another in and it works fine.
Do I only put pc0 and pc1 into devs/dos drivers when I'm about to put a blank, formatted disk in? |

Workbench Version Info.
Hi mancity,
To find out what ver Workbench and ROMs you are running. Goto your "Workbench" Menu at the top left of your screen. Push down the Right Mouse Button and pull down to "About ..." release the Right Mouse Button. A window should popup and tell you the version of your ROMs in the Titlebar, as well as Kickstart version and Workbench version plus Copyright info in the window. Regards, Michael aka rockape |

That's not true. All Workbench versions from 2.1 on have CrossDOS included, even 4.0 and 4.1.
CrossDOS as contained in Workbench consists of Devs/mfm.device L/CrossDOSFileSystem Storage/DosDrivers/PC0 Storage/DosDrivers/PC0.info Storage/DosDrivers/PC1 Storage/DosDrivers/PC1.info Tools/Commodities/CrossDOS Tools/Commodities/CrossDOS.info |
