help with softkicking on startup
Hi peeps, I want to make my 1200 softkick to 3.5 in fast memory on boot up.... only problem is so far I can only figure out how to do it manually i.e after the 1200 has booted from its rom and loaded WB. Any help would be greatly apreciated

Softkick to 3.5? If you know how to do what you want to do... then just whack it in the file S:/startup-sequence. |

its really that simple? lol thank you... I was looking for trouble when there isnt any !!! thank you. While I am here... what advantages does 3.5 have over 3.1?

There is no official Kickstart 3.5 whatever you have is a hack.
Best case, it is KS3.1 with the ROMUPDATES from AmigaOS 3.5 applied directly. Worst cases, it is KS3.1 with the version numbers hacked. If you have an accelerator you should consider using BlizKick. |

ok I did what you said but I have a problem.... after it reboots with my chosen kickstart it then does it again on reboot... its looping because its in the wbstartup - how can i make it skick once and then load wb normally?

cosmicfrog... no disk to take out its on the harddrive in the wbstarup folder. Laser - dont have a turboboard yet just using a 8 meg ram expansion until I get my 030.

ok been a long time I used to do it with a floppy disk, should be easy do a version check like alexh says

yes it's possible but not stable without MMU...so not very recommended....... some programs will not work and the computer will crash very often loosing the kickstart located in fast ram mins specs to a stable sofkick : 68030 + MMU + fastram |

lol thanks for the input guys... not my day it would seem again the old need to buy stuff to make it do stuff. just gonna give up amiga stuff as a lost cause i think.
