Question Best WP like Protext?

I used to use Protext a few years back and liked it a lot for doing loads of word processing, but from what I remember it didn't have a scroll bar at the right hand side like most WPs enabling you to easily move through the document. So are there any other WPs like Protext which aren't flashy, not necesarily WYSIWYG, not bothered about graphics but with a decent spell checker / thesaurus that have that all important scroll bar?

Thanks for that, I've found a download of the Amiga Format coverdisk which features a version. It doesn't include the thesaurus/dictionary but I should be able to get a feel of it so to speak and if I like it I'll have a peak on Ebay.

Scribble, hmmm, yep scroll bar is there but it's incredibly ancient (I bought it when it first came out), others you could try are excellence, pen pal, kindwords 1 or 2 (3 is an early wordworth renamed)...

Execellence! is quite happy with Picasso96 and OS3.9

I still think protext is the best and still use it alot (version 6.53)...

I used Scribble for a while too, although the version I had always cut-out with an "out of memory" message, which vanished when I managed to get a copy of Protext, could hammer out pages of text on that without it breaking a sweat.

That's what I liked about protext, it was pure 100% for bashing out pages of text, I just found the moving from page to page cumbersome. I think the version I had was 6.1 (or there abouts) so I'm not sure if later versions improved on that. I wish I hadn't chucked out my old copies of Amiga Format/CU Amiga some years ago so I could at least look at the reviews.

Faith, I'm not knocking scribble I too used it for many years until I got Protext

Bippym, hmmm, CygnusEd Wonderful but a bit lacking on the spell checker / theasarus side

Yadster, If you just want to chuck out text, try GoldEd, 4 or 5 is freeware, I have an original of 6 going cheap, or grab the ATX demo from the offical website (no spell checking though)...

PS. Bippym, welcome back to the BlitzList

Thanks for the tip Severin. Does anyone know where I can get Golded5 as it's not available on the official site anymore and I can't find it on the web or aminet.
