Misc. Chipset options in WinUAE?
Hi!
I never really understood what those three Misc. Chipset Options in Chipset settings are really for: - Fast Cooper - Immediate Blitter - Cycle exact CPU and Blitter What are they for? For instance, most games function equally good no matter whether I activate any of these three or not, but if I want the game "Wings" (Hd-installed version) to run properly, then I must enable 'Cycle exact CPU and Blitter', otherwise all missions played from bombing and strafing view will run too fast. On the other hand, "Trolls" (AGA-version) freezes when the loading of the first level starts when the very same option is activated. So I would be really grateful if someone could explain what technically these three options do to the emulation procedure. Thanks in advance! |

Fast copper = faster copper emulation. (but it is not 100% compatible)
Immediate blitter = all blitter operations finish immediately. Useful when running system friendly programs (faster screen updates etc..). Not recommended when running games or demos. Cycle exact: the most compatible A500 emulation mode. Very fast CPU recommended. In non-68000 mode cycle exact only does some approximation but it really isn't cycle-exact. Emulating 68020 cycle-exactly is very complex, maybe someday when everyone fast enough PC CPU |
