IDE2 & IDE3 not working?

Been avoiding this problem by using the UAE setting on HD controller when needing more than 2 hardfiles in a setup, but that does not work when using Linux/NetBSD;
If I try to connect a hdf in RDB mode to IDE2 or IDE3 It does not get detected. It does not show up in hdtoolbox or in early startup. I am using the A4000 chipset settings and a A4000 3.1 kickstart, this should work, shouldn't it?

It is probably normal because secondary IDE is only available if IDE driver supports IDE splitter hardware hack.

Native AmigaOS does not support it either, you need IDEFix software or similar.
