Mega Drive Joypads
I know some Amiga games can use 2 of the buttons on a Mega Drive joypad, but what about the pads with 6 or more buttons? do the work the same as a CD32 pad?

Nope
On an old Amiga, and with certain games, you can use all the buttons of a 3-button Megadrive Joypad. Flashback allows you to do this, there are details of a conversor you have to do inside the game's disks. This doesn't work with an A1200 or 600 though (because of surface-mounted technology or some shit like that)... FIFA Intl. Soccer allowed you to use all three butons as well...
Your 6 button pad won't work like a CD32 pad, at all. However, some games do not even recognize the 2 buttons you usually can use, because some games (I have no clue why) preffer a Master System-type joypad. This is most common in older games (where the 2nd button does the same the spacebar does, like in R-Type 2 or Project X) |

I remember once I borrowed a friend's megadrive pad to use with my Amiga 500 for a while. It worked, but when I gave it back, my friend told me the pad had ceased to work properly- and blamed me for it! He thought I had "given it a virus!"
I didn't hear much more about this from him later on, so I assumed it resumed working normally (or else he was talking crap.) |

stez: The two buttons work fine, but if you do the adapter that appears in the docs, the 4 buttons just wont work.
Muzkat: haha, that really sounds wrong... My Megadrive pad didnt do such stupid thing when I connected it to my Megadrive, after years of being used by the Amiga only... |

Ditto...I think I started using a megapad like in 1993 or so and it's always worked with no probs on the Amiga and my Genesis.

Sega's Genesis and Saturn joypads are, IMO , the best joypads ever done. The fit is tight, they are responsive and durable. Excellent buys
