A2000 stopped seeing right mouse button

This is VERY strange. All of a sudden, my trusty A2000 has stopped responding to right mouse. I've tried three different known-good meece on it and no luck. Movement is fine, left button is fine. No response at all to right button.

It's not software, since I cannot even get to the boot setup screen in the 3.1 ROMs.

Any ideas?

Two possibilities:

1- Busted CIA (hard to believe, since movement and left click is OK);

2- the EMI protection is open (acts like a fuse) in the mouse port, pin 9.

Did you try to use the mouse in joystick port? AFAIR, it works.

Yes, very hard to believe because only 1st button goes to CIA
2nd fire/right mouse and 3rd fire/middle mouse = Paula. (pins 32 and 33 = mouse, 34 and 35 = joystick)

EMI protection most likely or broken track, most Amiga custom chips die very rarely (CIA on the other hand..)

Then just a suggestion: if the sound is distorted, time for a Paula replacement. But probably, as Tony said, just the EMI protection (equivalent to a fuse) is busted.

Many thanks, all! Turned out to be a bit of oxidation on the Paula chip's socket. Reseated it and all's well.
