Megafortress: Flight Of The Old Dog

Big fan of the game. There are cracked versions floating around but most are very "crashy" and bugged on anything but a vanilla A500 with WB 1.3.

When i use my accelerated A500 and or my accelerated A1200 it just crashes all the time. I also have original disks and its the same story with those.

I really would appreciate if a brave soul could adapt it for WHDload and get it to work properly on WB 3.x .. Please let me know and i will do everything possible to furbish the origianl files and or anything else needed.

Have a good one .. /aalkul

Oh no, another flight simulator

When does it crash? How do you get to the parts where it doesn't work, and how do you play the game?

Maybe I'll take a look, but it looks very complicated, and if it requires extensive play testing I'm not the right person

Played that a lot back then on my A500 as well. Never had any crashes (Kick 1.3, 512k+512k).

Too bad all planes had the same cockpit. One of the reasons I never got back to it in more recent times. The intro is still great, however.

Looked a bit more at it, and it seems to work fine with a mostly generic 1.3 slave?

I have no idea how to play the game though. Managed to power on the plane (after a while..) and destroy the landing gear, so again, if crashes happen while playing this won't fix it.

Extract attached zip somewhere, create data dir next to it and copy contents of both game disks to data dir. I.e. you have:
Code:
MegaFortress.slave
data/Mega
data/Mega.Dat
data/Mega.mod
data/Roster.DAT
data/Theater
data/Theater/AREDFLAG.THR
etc.
Then run MegaFortress.slave
Attached Files
File Type: zip MegaFortress_v0.1.zip (4.2 KB, 47 views)

This is one of the few games (that I know off), that supported an external graphics card. From the LastMinute.txt :

Quote:
Changes made to Amiga Megafortress after the manual addendum was printed:

- SAGE support was added

SAGE, the Standard Amiga Graphics Extension, allows programs to access
extended graphics hardware without having to know the specifics of that
hardware. Amiga Megafortress will put its 3D graphics displays on the
first SAGE board it finds, if you specify a mode number to use on the
Megafortress command line.

For example, from CLI, to run Megafortress on your SAGE display using
Mode 2, then you would type "Mega 2".
A mission disk, was also released!!
