Amazing Computing for the Commodore Amiga

Thanks to magweasel, AMR now has coverscans for most issues of Amazing Computing for the Commodore Amiga.

I was wondering if any of you guys have missing issues and are able to scan the covers for us. Amazing Computing is one of the few magazines that can be scanned on an A4 scanner without having to composite the images.

If you are able and willing to contribute please PM me (scans should be a minimum of 100dpi, and preferably not resized)

Also, if anyone has vol 1 no 3 of AC's Tech for the Commodore Amiga we'd like to hear from you - this is now the only issue of the magazine missing a coverscan.

Thanks to another great contributor, we now have an almost complete set of Amazing Comp covers online.

Does anyone have the Sep 1992 issue (vol 7 no 9) - we would really appreciate a scan of this issue to complete the set!

I've got that issue and would be happy to send a scan. What format & resolution would you like?

Great, thanks!

We upload scans to AMR at 100dpi, so 100dpi or higher is preferable (if you scan at a higher res, please let us know at what res you scanned). We prefer you to not resize the image.

Jpeg is fine, as long as it isn't too heavily compressed (we use a quality of about 70%) otherwise other formats are fine (I can easily convert).

For a single scan it's probably easiest to just upload it to the Zone.

Ok, it's in the zone. I scanned it at 200 dpi.

I just clicked on the link to see the "few" issues of this magazine I've never even heard of and... WHAM!

Someone has done a shit load of work scanning that lot in!

I'm impressed. AMR is coming on leaps and bounds. Thanks everyone involved...

I have a bunch of these already scanned. But back then, I decided 150dpi was good enough for me. A friend found me a scanner with an auto doc feeder, so my scanning was destructive. The scanner wasn't always perfect, but it was that or nothing, since I didn't have the space for them anymore.

Scans in AMR are 100dpi. Smaller than this and some of the magazines get illegible.

I've started scanning my issues too (did an issue from 1996 yesterday) - it will be uploaded some time soon

I just sent up the premiere issue of Amazing, vo1,n1... I also sent the cover to AC's Guide for Winter 94. This was the last issue, so far as I know. I've been considering running it through the OCR software. What with proofreading and formatting, that takes about 5 times as long as just scanning. ;-)

Amazing Computing for the Commodore Amiga
http://www.bombjack.org/commodore/am..._computing.htm

Only Missing 4 issues out of 158 now.

Issue 150 Vol 13 No. 12 1998 Dec
Issue 155 Vol 14 No. 06 1999 Jun
Issue 156 Vol 14 No. 07 1999 Jul
Issue 157 Vol 14 No. 08 1999 Aug

These can be easliy scanned by just removing the staples. The magazine does not have to be cut or damaged. Please look through your collection and see if you can help out by providing these 4 issues.

It would be great if we could get this to 100%.

Plan is to have the Amiga World and Amazing Computing magazines posted by mid to end next week and then I head to C4 for Memorial Weekend.

I decided to concentrate on the smaller magazines and get them posted first and finish a bunch of contributions that came in.

thanks
