I'll get things started with these few
Movies :
  • Outbreak (1995) features Dustin Hoffman, an obvious choice
  • Final Destination (2000) can fate be avoided ?
  • Re-Animator (1985) he has a cure for it, but it only works of dead bodies
  • Fog (1980) features Jamie Lee Curtis, fog pervades everything
  • Io e te (2002) by Bernardo Bertolucci, pitch
    Quote:
An introverted teenager tells his parents he is going on a ski trip, but instead spends his time alone in a basement.

& Albums :
  • Crisis, What Crisis ? - Supertranp (1975)
  • Forward to Termination - Sacrifice (1987)
  • Surrounded by Thieves - High On Fire (2002)

Who said bad taste ?

I forgot about that film. I wonder who will star in the Hollywood movie about Corona-19. Maybe Tom Hanks will play a cameo part as himself.

Games recommendations are fine too, if you'd rather have them :

Tintin - The Shooting Star (1942)
Quote:
The story tells of young Belgian reporter Tintin, who travels with his dog Snowy and friend Captain Haddock aboard a scientific expedition to the Arctic Ocean on an international race to find a meteorite that has fallen to the Earth.

Of course, apprehending the story from the comic book is more pleasant. Anime is decent enough though.

A few more recommendations :
  • The Others (2001) features Nicole Kidman
  • Das Boot (1981)
    Quote:
A 293-minute version touted as the "original uncut version" and released on DVD in the US in 2004
that's the version you'll want to watch (or re-watch) IMHO
  • Cube (1997)
  • El ángel exterminador [The Exterminating Angel] (1962) a Luis Buñuel feature, have in mind it bears quite a few references to secret societies symbolism and rituals, a rather complex film, watch it with a cool head
  • Joe Versus the Volcano (1990) features Tom Hanks & Meg Ryan
  • The Omega Man (1971) features Charlton Heston, and epic dialogues
    Quote:
Matthias : Now we must build.
Robert Neville : Build coffins, that's all you'll need.
Lisa : Is there anything you can do, Doctor, I mean, seeing as how you've lost over 200 million patients ?
  • Morte a Venezia (1971), a Luchino Visconti feature
  • Dead On Arrival (1949)
    Quote:
D.O.A. is a 1949 American film noir directed by Rudolph Maté, considered a classic of the genre. The frantically paced plot revolves around a doomed man's quest to find out who has poisoned him and why.
  • At Play in the Fields Of the Lord (1991), not for the faint of heart, pitch follows :
    Quote:
In a malarial outpost in the South American rain forest, two misplaced gringos converge and clash in this novel from the National Book Award-winning author. Martin Quarrier has come to convert the elusive Niaruna Indians to his brand of Christianity. Lewis Moon, a stateless mercenary who is himself part Indian, has come to kill them on the behalf of the local Comandante. Out of this struggle Peter Matthiessen creates an electrifying moral thriller—adapted into a movie starring John Lithgow, Kathy Bates, and Tom Waits. A novel of Conradian richness, At Play in the Fields of the Lord explores both the varieties of spiritual experience and the politics of cultural genocide.

Yet another album :
Countdown to Extinction - Megadeth (1992)

and another film :
Body Snatchers (1993), an Abel Ferrara feature
Quote:
third film adaptation of Finney's novel, the first being Invasion of the Body Snatchers in 1956, followed by a remake of the same name in 1978. The plot revolves around the discovery that people working at a military base in Alabama are being replaced by perfect physical imitations grown from plantlike pods. The duplicates are indistinguishable from normal people except for their utter lack of emotion.
Enjoy!

A concert with no public to attend means reduced risk of contagion, presumably. In 1972, Pink Floyd offered the birds and lizards of Pompeii a memorable experience at ancient Roman amphitheater. Will it become the future of live events ?

Splash! (1984) features a vivacious Tom Hanks ./. Provided their tank is large enough, I bet many of you would gladly have their Pisces replaced with one specimen of these legendary amphibian creatures. Downside is most likely all you'll have for supper throughout captivity time is sardines and sea lettuce.

The Prisoner series (1967-68) featuring Patrick McGoohan. Silly me, how could I omit to mention this classic dystopian drama show, having in mind half humanity has to endure confinement ? Also, Richard Linklater's A Scanner Darkly (2006) certainly deserves a mention.

A fine piece of 80's anime called les Mondes Engloutis / Engulfed Worlds was dubbed in English for those into French anime. This version of the show was aired on Nickelodeon, but never released on DVD. MySpleen "TV" tracker do host a few episodes, but some are still missing. Baddies are a tribe of playful and quarrelsome punks, and don't add much to the intrigue IMHO (nor do their cringe-worthy singing ). Otherwise, a truly superb and atmospheric show, if a bit slow paced. Here are the first six episodes of S01 in French, with English subtitles. Full title is as such : Spartakus & the Sun Beneath the Sea.

Ever since the time of the Great Cataclysm, the Arkadians have lived deep in the center of the Earth. They believed they were the only survivors of this great devastation. Their civilization thrived under the power of their artificial sun, the Tehra... Until the latter began to falter. In desperation, the children of Arkadia broke their oath and entered the forbidden Archives, searching for a long-term solution. What they discovered gave them hope. Anxiously, they used their special powers and created a messenger to the people above. They named her Arkana...

A Czech scientist who possesses invaluable information involving the process for miniaturizing human beings and objects escapes to the United States, where he is shot in an assassination attempt. Desperate to save his life, a team of scientists are placed in a submarine, which is shrunk and inserted into his body. They have one hour to repair a blood clot before returning to their real size. The mission is further complicated by the presence of a saboteur. The screenplay for Fantastic Voyage was novelized by Isaac Asimov and released before the film was completed, giving the impression that the movie was based on Asimov’s book. Its (then) state-of-the-art special effects have continued to hold up well. As the scientist Cora, Raquel Welch appeared in one of her first leading roles.

Quoted from britannica.com
Despite the somehow stiff acting, film is quite good actually.

Le Repas des Fauves aka Champagne for Savages (1964), directed by Christian-Jaque.

Quote:
Also known in English as "Champagne for Savages". Set in World War Two occupied France. Several people gather at a house to celebrate a woman's birthday. Some German soldiers are killed outside. The Gestapo inform the group that they must select two of their party to be executed for the crime. It then becomes a matter of everyone trying to save themselves. Great coffee table reading for guests during the global pandemic. Of course less than 10 guests per visit and they get temperature checked before they pick up Amiga Format.
