MP4 support? Well, that's an advancement. I've been looking for an MKV (H.264/AC3/DTS....or even MP2/3) support. With SRT subtitles or PGS.. But MP4 is a good start rather than tiny MPG files.
I'll check into this.. http://www.morguesoft.eu/Paginas/vamp.htm |

There is also FFPlay which has a wider support, hard to find a format not supported by FFPlay

Yeah. It's really slow. I used it with OS 3.1.4.1. Well, it's okay....with some really small videos (such as back in the 90's..). I also checked it with a Blu-ray movie I ripped to MKV to view with my TV and computer...so I rerendered the MKV to MP4 to 720x480 with MP3 128..and...wasn't too quick. This was with my A4000 Picasso 4 and CVisionPPC. PowerPC.Librarary 5.1.
Then checked it with WinUAE...and the only way I could get some better speed from is with JIT enabled (MMU disabled). Then used my X5000 and it _almost_ played a 720P video I recorded from my phone decently. Emotion for X5000 is much faster still. Good to see competition. I can't explain the reason for the slowness, maybe I ask the developer, if you try to use the PC-Windows version you will notice the same slowness even with videos with small video resolutions.
On the other hand it is quite fast with Animations (also native amiga) and various image formats |

Try to use the picture.datatype 45.17 from OS 3.9, which has PPC support and also better image scaling quality than the picture.datatype 46.13 of OS 3.1.4 (no PPC support). Maybe it can improve the speed, but I don't have that hardware and no interest in V.A.M.P, since I use MPC-HC64. |

MPC-HC kicks butt over most players for MKV/TS support and it retains its Window size if you stop a video..that bugged me about VLC not doing that. Maybe they changed that now? It's been a long time since I've used VLC. Anyway, I'll have a peek at OS 3.9 ISO..again. Not a fan of that OS since it has many bugs if you're doing a lot more than just playing WHDLoad games. If MS becomes really sneaky and really puts some kind of Stop on Windows 7 at the end of the year then I'll go totally Amiga Classic and AmigaOne..I cannot stand their and Apple's new bland and drab "Metro" GUI. |

OS 3.9 has the same version I'm using. Hmm...yeah, now I remember copying it from it. There are newer versions around, but...I haven't located them yet.

Ahhh, okay. I read that the one I'm using is the most stable.
So, yeah, V.A.M.P. needs some updating. I'll keep checking its progress. I think there are some packages that could be made rather than individual downloads. Either way. Last edited by AC/DC HACKER!; 11 October 2019 at 05:31. |

Black keys? They look like buttons or nobs.
