Son of Zeus

Amiga Games That Weren't returns with a look at Son of Zeus, an action game set in the world of antiquity. Brian van de Peer answers some questions in an interview and has supplied some great new graphics!

The graphics are really well done. Not sure about the overall game, but it's good that the artwork is now preserved

Zeus is a dead ringer for Brian Blessed These are seriously some of the best Amiga graphics I've ever seen; shame the game never made it to release.

If anything else, the graphics are pretty decent. Interesting to see the amount of detail put into them!

There was a demo on an Amiga Action coverdisk and I played that thing over and over and over. It was -really- cool. Still in early stages (you had three weapons but I remember using the club for all battles because that was the only one that always worked), but I felt devastated when I learned the game was canned. Which was reported in a tiny side bar in another Amiga Action issue, which I completely read over for quite a long time. What a shock when months later I finally noticed it.

It's probably best that it didn't get released, it looks pretty damn bad

What version are you looking at? This looks like the 16-bit remake of Battle of Olympus we never got...there's no way it wouldn't have been awesome.

Though I would appreciate something new that was never released coming onto the Amiga commodorejohn, going by the video of this game in particular it looks as if to me that although it has some very nicely drawn graphics the game play looks like complete and utter shit.

The full release might be the complete opposite of that if it ever comes to fruition but as it stands it looks like one of those games back in the day where if you bought it you would have regretted it in a major way.

I think gameplay was the reason that game wasn't released. Mindless and unfair.
