1901 Monitor

Just picked up a C= 1901 monitor.

Can I use it with my amiga 1000?

How do I hook it up?

It has chroma, luminance and mono sound jacks as well as a 9-pin male connector.

You should be able to use the standard amiga monitor lead (23 pin D-type to 9-pin D-type).

Well, you can use the 1901 for your Amiga, but you will have to do a little bit soldering !
Don't connect the Amiga to the 9-pin SUB-D port, because this one is for RGB digital only ! ( you can, but then you have only 16 colours which is a little bit poor for the Amiga )

What you have to do to be able to connect the Amiga to the 1901 is soldering a SCART connector on the back of the monitor. But the problem is that C= fucked up the board in design and so the holes in the board where a SCART connector should have been soldered in are actually mirrorwise on the board This means if you solder the SCART in as it is then it will face to the inside and not to the outside of the monitor's case. Stupid Commodore !

Anyway, I did the job by using 2 flat wired cables and soldered them inbetween the board and the SCART, so I have the SCART hanging loose outside the case, but I can connect my Amiga to the 1901 and it has a brilliant !!! picture For me the picture is much better than on the 1084, because it isn't that matt but looks more colourful

So if you think you know what I am talking about then go for it and your work will be rewarded with a great monitor picture
