Sega megadrive (genesis) control pad mod for amiga

Prolly not in the right section, please move if it isnt, thanks mods!
Very easy to do, if you want button "C" to act as up - makes playing amiga platformers much easier, such as robocod, lion king etc, as you can use button "C" to jump instead of up, which is a pain!

All you have to do is solder a wire from the brown wire to the R4 resistor, see the pictures.

Bare in mind it might have weird results if you put it back into an megadrive so this is only to be done if you never plan on using it on a megadrive again.

See attached pictures!

You might look around for a mod that uses the 'A' button for jump as the 'C' button is a working 2nd button in some games and you would lose that functionality. WHDLoad games that have been getting CD32 joypad support should work with the 'C' button.

CD32 red=Genesis 'B'
CD32 blue=Genesis 'C'

I'm not the hardware guy to tell you how to safely mod for jump up using the 'A' button though.

Thanks, I didn't think about that, anyone know how to use A as jump instead of C?

Sorry to sound very crude, but have you tried to 'trace back' the wires from button A and C and simply reverse?

I have done this now and working perfectly! The funny thing is that the A button is the jump (up) now not C as stated by paulisthebest. So it seems that maybe there were different controllers mapped differently.

Edit: Just thought I would share exactly what I did in case anyone else wants to do this. I found that the controller I had did not work in two button mode even before the MOD, so made button A & C act as jump (up) by soldering two wires from pin 1 to the A & C buttons as in the pics. I had a spare Boing Ball Case Sticker from AmigaKit, so thought I may as well have a custom branded controller
