I always loved 1:1 ports, specially arcade ports. This one is 2:1 apparently as it has more levels than the original (it's also super hard, so I failed to play them... note that I also suck at the original Rygar, which certainly doesn't help)
EDIT: thanks for the support BTW. Last edited by jotd; 15 November 2019 at 18:37. |

Look what arrived at my house today
I hear these are as rare as hen's teeth Many thank my friend but you really didn't have to, especially since I don't even have a real Amiga to play it on... Anyway, this will be displayed somewhere prominant where I can admire it's beauty and also reflect on the stirling effort Graeme went through to bring this classic Arcade game to the Amiga |

I think considering the prize money that was put up by your good self, along with running the EAB 18/19 competition it was the very least I could do.
Please do enjoy the box as it gives off a glossy shine with unlimited positive vibes! |

That's what I saw too at first. Congrats McGeezer for finishing the game. Did you use a lot of 68020 instructions or the cache or just the extra bitplanes, sprite size of the AGA chipset? |

Cracking game mcgeezer, well done mate!!!, very well polished., got to stage 4 on my first play, lol, well I thought I was doing well also 2 button works great, although get a brief black screen between stages, maybe a whdload issue though, no biggie.
Any chance of skipping the intro on button press? Running A1200, 030/50 Blizzard, with 8MB fastram, indivision Mk2 and KTRL+ controller Last edited by lmimmfn; 18 November 2019 at 02:57. |

Probably could yeah, the only reason I didn't do it in the first place was because of my lack of knowledge in manipulating the ProTracker module - i.e. the music would be out of sync. I could look into it though. |

After having written an emulator for the original Rygar, I can only imagine the amount of work that has gone into rebuilding this game from scratch.
This is an amazing effort. Well done! I look forward to learning more from the Amiga dev video series. |

Oh I played a non-MAME Rygar version on PC 20 years ago. Was it your work?

My emulator is a fairly recent implementation: https://github.com/nullobject/rygar-emu I wrote it mostly to learn how the Rygar arcade hardware works. Everything I learned when writing the emulator helped me to write a FPGA core for the MiSTer platform, which re-creates the original arcade hardware at a chip-level. I'm just putting the finishing touches on the FPGA core now. |

On a side note of your project i would be interested to know from your point of view having studied the hardware how many sprites and their sizes the arcade board can through around? Graeme |

So I'm assuming there's no way you can edit your post as you've left it..we talked privately about my vote on lemon amiga and I removed it,I was under the impression all was good after that.

Can I give you some friendly advice though. Voting games down because they are not in a specific genre or theme isn't good etiquette. To give an example, you've rated Richard Lowenstein's Reshoot R as "Pure Crap" when it clearly isn't, even to the hardened Amiga gamer who doesn't like shooters I doubt they would vote it that bad. I'll also point out that as an Amiga developer it takes a long time to make a game juggling between family, work and stuff so you should appreciate this when making your vote. Consider to yourself that someone has spent time making this game and how would you feel if you spent a year making a game and some twat came along and just rated it "pure crap" without even giving it a chance or playing it. |

There should be no voting for new free releases even if it is crysis on the amiga or a tetris clone.
These people are making a lot of effort and sacrifices for the final result. Friendly speaking :-) |
