I asked the guy who sells it on ebay but he doesn't own an Amiga any more and thus can't test it or even say whether the disk is still readable :/

it has Stefan. I guess that we will only know when someone will check inside the game code. btw, this version doesn't have the longtrack which protects the original retail retail.
Only the atari ST tracks remains This version can be easily copied back with powercopy ! |

Personally, I think it's a simple case of loose sticker plus game box = super rare special edition. If it was genuine the seller would have some knowledge of its origins.

there are some differences, but those are buried in the game code.
This game required 512kb on the first retail version. If it needs 1mb on this one, it must have or use something else. It's not a scam nor a fake. |

But it's still strange that it's not only a sticker but it's even printed on the disk that it requires 1 MB.

I was just running with the general 'was there a spesh-ed of James Pond?' theme. I took that image from another auction for a multi-pack, which includes a version of the game.

Anyone in here bidding on the auction? Was thinking of a***t @ US $9.99. Would be counterproductive to bid against each other, all it takes is one guy with PowerCopy.

I came across a picture of the cover of a magazine (see attachment), which includes an article entitled, "Cover-up: the fi5hy story of James Pond". I wonder if the different versions get a mention in there.
Anyway, if anyone has a scan or original copy of it, it's issue 1 of Amiga CD! which came with International Amiga User magazine. That eBay bidder isn't me or anyone I know. |

I've made extended ADFs of both versions and have put them in the Zone for people who want to compare them with Denis' French Chart Attack compilation version. FYI, the A500+ compatible GBH budget version was released in early 1992, while the supposedly 1MB Chart Attack compilation version was released for Christmas 1991. If it's supposed to need 1mb, wouldn't it complain or refuse to load on a 0.5mb setup?
All the disks uploaded so far run on WinUAE default 0.5 setup. And yes....I AM IRONMAN...I mean a***t @ US $9.99 |
