How to make a PC based virtual Amiga?
I've googled and searched threads with no luck.
What is the best way to go about configuring a x86 / XP machine to boot to winUAE / AIAB? I know Amiga Forever has a solution, but it involves purchasing the product and having the CD in the drive at boot up (not kid friendly, as my kids destroy CDs). Is it simply a matter of configuring the XP system.ini? Last edited by buckrogers; 08 January 2007 at 07:32. Reason: correction |

Yes, you use the line 'shell=[myfile].exe' to boot a different shell.
Presumably you can use 'winuae.exe' and probably the best thing to do is include the WinUAE folder in the 'path'. Then pass it options to autostart with a certain config, I presume this is possible. |

Thinking laterally, the MAME community have been booting MAME and bypassing as much of XP as possible for years. Options include boot screen editors of sorts:
