A1200 hardisk speed

My old A1200' hardisk has the super speed of 195kb p/s (according to sysinfo)
is that normal? or must be fast?
that's aprox the speed of a CDROM 1x
The drive is a seatgate 120mb

my question are ...

how fast is your old A1200 hardisk?
and
how fast are the old A500 hardisks ?

With an A1200 you may achieve between 800KB/s upto 2.5MB/s. Factors such as the current accelerator fitted, and the type of drive will make your Amiga 1200 to go either way. My best recomendation is to use a modern Flash/SSD solution, so that you may reach that 2.5MB/s.
The filesystem used, and the scsi.device driver will also play an important role towards drive transfer speed issues.
My old A1200 drive could give me about 1.7MB/s. My actual one goes upto 2.2MB/s (I am using and ide to sd adapter + an SDHC card Class 6).
I dont have any A500 to give you information about.

Even those ancient disks use to give around 600kb/s on unexpanded A1200.

If yours is giving this low speed transfer, something is very wrong with it. Replace with a modern(ish) unit as soon as you can.

My Add_Hard goes from ~400kb/s without FAST RAM to up 850kb/s with some.

GVP units goes from 950kb/s up to 3.5Mb/s with 68000 CPU!

I agree, that speed was very low. The lowest I've seen with any A500 HDD interface is 300kb/s.
