Apollo 2030 troubles...

I have bought from eBay as working an Apollo2030 card for my A2000... so I unplugged my GVP-030/40 accelerator, put the apollo , and.... nothing....
the monitor powers-up (through the scandoubler) but it never boots... I also diasbled ram, scsi, ram+scsi, but no-go... I use it on a rev 6.2 mobo with KS3.1 and 2MB chipram upgrade...
any ideas? or is it dead? (most propablly)

Why did you get an Apollo A2030?

More RAM?

They are notoriously unreliable.

I got it for 85eur , it has a full 030/50 with mmu and ofcourse I can add normal simms...
my gvp has 16MB ram and an EC030/40mhz...
plus I don't use the crappy scsi in either card... so I thought the apollo would be better...

Can you not transfer the CPU or is it soldered in place on one or both boards?

Going off topic a little, but if you dont use the "crappy" scsi on either card, what do you use?

a very convenient buddha card. I don't like scsi, never did and frankly I got bored of all the ancient scsi hd's for the amiga...

My Apollo 2030 lite only works with setpatch from workbench 1.3. I also must not push the card firmly to the cpu-slot otherwise it wont boot.

I have also tried it without any HD connected, so a setpatch conflict is not possible... though I always pushed it all the way in...

When i did get my 2030 I first had similar problems. First it didn't boot at all. But now it has worked over 6 months.

damn, I ma fed up removing the vgp for all these tests LOL

edit: just tried with the 2030 half-inserted... no go...

you can try 2.05 kickstart maybe it helps

Hi,

I am trying to softkick to ks3.x with an apollo 2030 card and I do not seem to get it working. So maybe it only works with ks2 (which I use right now)

Try a spare KS1.3 and see if it boots?

I dunno if it is susceptible to the same problems as the Commodore A2630 which will just not boot anything later than KS1.3 without a ROM upgrade. I dont think it is.
