PFS install issues
So I d/l and installed a pretty recent vers of PFS 3 v 5.x as I recall.
The doc's are pretty sketchy on how to actually set up a new partition. After you plug everything in and reboot and start hd inst tools I get a bit lost. so the fist button is setup drive, this seems to do what it needs to do. next is install filesystem. This is where things get interesting, after I select the standard scsi pfs filesystem, I use pfs\3 for the dos type, what do I enter for vers and rev? moving on to partitioning. this should be fairly simple but I still get my fingers burned the part in question is getting the partition type, dma and transfer size parameters correctly . As I recall I use custom and pfs\3 for the partition type. then dma and transfer size parameters I enter a few suggested values making sure I hit enter after each one click ok a few times, write changes to disk etc reboot and bingo no new unformatted drive is displayed. for the record I am trying tio set up pfs on an iomega 1gb jaz drive and later a 16 gb cf card. I was able to get a drive formatted once or twice using pfsformat but on any write operations I get write errors. so what am I doing wrong? thanks |

Don't use the original PFS3 of Aminet, use PFS3AIO instead.
I made this guide in a post: http://eab.abime.net/showpost.php?p=831346&postcount=14 |
