Disk-2-Disk by Central Coast Software (full or demo version)

Hi,

I'm looking for versions of Disk-2-Disk by Central Coast Software, other than version 2.1 (which I have already), or the demo version 2.0 (which is on Aminet). If anyone wants to try v2.1, I can try uploading it to The Zone.

Disk-2-Disk is used with an Amiga A1020 5.25" floppy drive to read (and partly write) C64 disks. The 1541.lha package on Aminet can do that, and works much faster than Disk-2-Disk, but it requires the drive RPM be reduced to about 280 (it's normally 300).

Disk-2-Disk is interesting because it doesn't require that adjustment. As far as I can tell from disassembling Disk-2-Disk V2.1, it does some weird/funky stuff involving "pulsing" the drive motor to be able to read all tracks. (Strangely it does that even for the inner tracks, which can be read without tricks on a standard drive using the 1541 program.) Disk-2-Disk probably requires a real Commodore Amiga A1020 drive; I tried it with one third-party 5.25" drive and it didn't seem to work properly.

Out of historical interest and curiosity, I'd like to get hold of any other versions of Disk-2-Disk or the demo version. At least V1.0 and V2.0 exist. Were there any later ones?

I only have 2.1, dated in '87.. I checked to see if it might, by chance, have been included with A64, but doesn't seem to have been in the few I have.. Could an old version be on some old utility compilation disk?

I have posted an old utilities disk with DOS-2-DOS V1.6, May 14, 1987 by Central Coast Software to the Zone, just in case that's of interest. I realize it's a different program to DISK-2-DISK...

Thanks for that. I think DOS-2-DOS is similar in operation to Disk-2-Disk, except for PC floppy disks (so no motor speed tricks needed to read them).
