The MT46V64M8CV is a 64 Mbit x 8 bit wide = 512Mbit but it is only 8 bits wide, your original was 16 bits wide. A MT46V32M16 should work and double the RAM. It looks like 1Gbit DDR has been discontinued factory fresh.

It's not too difficult to program the DDR controller in the MPC834x devices, UBOOT has some example code. I don't remember how to set the PCI memory space usage, it's been a while.

Thanks Stedy, I screwed that up good. I don't think my board will survive another attempt and I don't have another spare aside from the only working one I have. So someone do this.

Well on one hand yeah more ram is better but the CPU really isn't all that fast, I question how well Quake3, RTCW, OpenArena, or SmokingGuns would run on the 603e, which are the only applications which actually need more than 128MB. If they ran those applications as well as the Sonnet then it would be worth it to go to 256MB but, we have to wait till someone at least gets to 128MB first.

I downloaded fixed powerpc.library (still 17.12), and now mpeg.library plays excellent in every program, which use it- big THANKS

I use AMPlifter ver2.35 (BB3/4) and play it correct if 100% volume is set.
AHI Volume Boost option I have disabled.

With mp3 320kbps (AHI v4.18, Soundblaster 16bit stereo++ 44100) I have on 060@50Mhz (CS MK1) on AMPlifter (minimalized) about:

IdleA68K 1.70:25% to 36%
Scout 68k: 30% to 40%

WarpStat MUI (PPC): 3% to 13%

@BULI

Could you please share your MMU-Configuration? What 060 libraries are you using?

PS: I have a CS MK1 and have problems making my k1 work... perhaps taking a look at your mmu-configuration helps me a little

PowerPC Exception.

Hello Hedeon, Hello everyone,

I have Sonnet G3/500 MHz card and working fine. I thing I have only once or twice PowerPC Exception. I used it with MK II 060/50 + SCSI module + 128 MB RAM. But now I changed card for MK III 060/66 MHz , this card was reworked from Cyberstorm PPC and PPC processor was professionaly removed by Stachu100. Card working fine but after initializing initPPC I have often the following PowerPC Exception:

I'm guessing 70400000 is the start of your PPC memory?

You really should consider installing the MMULib, don't forget to set P5Init in your MMU-Configuration. Without showconfig, muscan and pciinfo there's not enough information to go on.

Never seen a machine check exception before. It's a critical cpu error. The address shown is the idle task that gets started after the initial setup. Which is just a few nops in a loop.

Let us know what happens after installing mmu libs.

I did not mean physically check the RAM modules, I was asking what memory address does the Sonnet start at. Like if you run pciinfo or showconfig where does it say the Memspace0 of the Sonnet starts, 70400000?

This is something you'd need to know when you install the MMULib.
