Help with icons and tool types

Hi there - sorry, this is almost a question for the "questions you were too afraid to ask" thread!

I have two Amigas (A1000 and A1200) both have been through many iterations and have a right mess of icons and stuff.

On the A1200 I have a mix of original 3.1.4 icons and various high colour icons from various other installs. I'd like to know how to:
1. Reset all the folder icons back to default 3.1.4 (I'm going back to basics)
2. How to prevent "Data" and "Games" drives from looking like floppy discs when they are HDD partitions. Also Ram looks like a floppy.

On the A1000 (with 060 and RTG) I'm happy with the icons but at some point I think I just blindly did something that made a huge amount of them lose their tool types.
1. How do I know what the tool type for an icon should be?
2. Is there some relatively painless way to reset the tool types without resorting to restoring backups that will be well out of date?

The A1000 isn't so bad because it's 3.9+BB's so at least it's just copy / paste to change icons, but the tool types are doing my head in.

Thank you.

1. Just copy the drawer icons from 3.1.4 disks to your HD install.
2. Use/copy a disk icon (disk.info) you like to the partitions. For RAM icon there is a link needed or a copy from HD to RAM at startup.
1. You need to compare with the original icons if you don't know them.
2. No. Copy only icon files from backup is a solution.

Edit:
Replaced ".disk" with "disk.info". Sorry.

Thank you - I had completely forgotten about the disk files in the root of the volume.

Sounds like the A1000 is going to be a lot harder to sort out though

If you have OS 3.9 then replace any icon by swapping the icons by dragging, see video:
