Well, this time was Gods Country, a BITMAP BROTHERS games tribute page.

I wonder what's so fun about pulling this kind of shit. They should be putting their talents to work on useful stuff. Why dont they hack a page likeMicrosoft's? because they can't.

Mainly it's the thrill of the challenge and because they can. If you wanted to climb to the top of K2 or Everest why not. In some ways these hackers help to point out security flaws that either the web site operator and/or their host needs to fix.

It would be better if these groups would just notify the operator of this hole and give them a chance to plug it but it's their few minutes of fame

As for M$, not sure if anyone has ever tried, would be fun but they have so many backup servers so it would be taken down probably within seconds of the hack.

there have been incidents where people who have found security flaws have contacted the operators to point out the flaws instead of exploiting them. Most of these incidents have ended with the person finding the flaw being at the recieveing end of a lawsuit for being friendly.

As for MS. They should be easy enough to hack if people really wanted, what with their servers so filled with flaws. But if they're running the servers on non-ms machines there might be harder to hack software there. Like for example, hotmail was run on linux servers. And I quite liked their "anti unix" page which were to inform people of why they should chose MS instead of unix like environments as part of a campaign. Only problem was it was hosted on a unix server. After someone pointed it out on various news sites they quickly changed it to an MS server, but were still running mySQL instead of their own sql server.

A friend told me (no, he´s not one of those nasty guys) that the new Fairlight´s Webpage its not very secure.

Look out Galahad for some possible nasty hacker attack.

The New Zealand MS web site got hacked as they didn't apply their own IIS patches on their server. This happened a while back, like 1-2 years ago...

Most of these people who 'hack' websites are just script kiddies. They wouldnt know how to write any kind of code, they just download a piece of someone else's code and find a site it will work on. They won't have a clue how it works, or why. For every script kiddie who grows up, another ten download a script. Its sad how the youth of the word think they are so cool by changing someones website, normally a site with no more security than offered by their host, which is often pretty basic.

Hmm. I differ here, because I have great respect for graffitti. I dont consider hacking webpages any kind of art, and any graffitti artist who knows what he/she's doing, and has some respect, does not bomb on private properties, they use to make it on public areas.

I might be biased, but graffittis are nice pieces and a hacked wenbpage is just ... dull
